This list is pretty funny and sad..... Haha mecca of hockey? not even close.

Ontario players ended up being divided among 5 teams including the Leafs, we didn't have a monopoly of our own province players.

You're all sheep! Open your eyes! See the truth! Believe everything a man who cries on camera for a living tells you! The banks own Benghazi and they used HAARP to change the male fish to females, thus proving Komarov is better than Kessel. Tin foil everywhere! Oh, the insanity!

That's why I didn't mention the Habs in previous posts. And because I hate them.

I for sure have to acknowledge that! Its an unfortunate reality, and there is no question it would have affected this list greatly. Had they been able to monopolize the local talent. That said that wasnt always the case. There is alot left to poopty decisions and terrible managing. Like Bruce Arthus said, "its a great thing to do, but compared to say, the habs, its pretty pathetic. " I hope this is a humbling experience.

In the sixties the Leafs were comprised of mainly Marlies and St Mikes players, about half and half.

Good post.

He's right about Rochester too.

Eddie Shack for example.
Jim Pappin.....who once he got out of Toronto and Rochester purgatory, blossomed.

Bruce Arthur is a westerner that hates everything Leafs, he has been called on it by other media members.

The 70's & 80's was a gong show, that was Ballard's fault.

Leafs have some good players on that list but I have to say I am pretty disappointed. They really never had stud. I mean the sabres Top 5 all time makes leafs look like an ahl team. That is pretty sad considering the leafs past and history.
- hanleyaj

I agree the list is pretty sad at times and the leafs dont really have that nhl icon guy for being around for 100 years. They do have stars, and a couple of superstars.
But who the heck would buffalo have?

Bruce Arthur is so pro leafs and anti habs... I was surprised to hear him say it too.. He works for (Toronto)SN. The only one ive heard not be a homer or biased from that network and SN combined is bob mckenzie. He is probably one of the few that call it like it is.

Are people really arse-caved over this list? History isn't a fairy tale for everyone, give the league a hundred more years to draw more favorable context.

Dunno. My team is what 44 years old and has one cup. Don't see me losing baby tears over it.

I think munky's main point is if you compare the top 100 habs vs top 100 leafs the 100th hab is better than the #1 leaf

Pretty much! That said i think the emphasis could be on the politics and how the leafs brass and builder shaped the league. There is no taking away from that.
