Best drafter we've had hey? We took Virtanen and Juolevi and both picks were scrutinized by most in hockey, he's drafted in a great spot and still was second guessed.
Haida-

Sorry Haida but the experts were all for OJ saying he was the right and best pick for the Canucks with what was on the board. As for JV he was favored too especially because of the rare power forward package and being a local boy. Power forwards take longer to develop at the NHL level so he's not regarded as a bad pick for this team but more of a needed player that Canucks don't have in their system.

Now more below Haida you also said:

-----
this year with a below average non playoff team and go and sign Eriksson so that we're just good enough to not make the playoffs and not have good drafting position, it seems like management isn't sure of the direction of this team. It would be good to commit to a rebuild and go like Edmonton, Tampa Bay, Pittsburgh and Chicago and be a bottom feeder for 2-3 years and get top 5 picks to build a foundation for the future.

- HaidaGwaii16
-Haida

Haida-
Seriously all these teams tried to sign UFA's and overpaid for who they got but they sucked and no one good wanted to go those bad teams at the time. So they kept losing for a long time. You don't turn around a franchise by losing you draft well yes but getting top picks doesn't guarantee anything. You need leadership and a competitive environment. Not a no hope circus. With a good drafter we can get great talent like Brock and Demko who aren't top 5 picks. Ducks best players now were not top 15 picks either. Take a good player later in the draft and develop them with a good team can make you into a great team and enter into conversations of competing for the Cup. Being a lousy team only guarantees more failure and praying for a savior....you want to lose a decade or so rolling the dice on that...?

GG thinks wideman is capable of shutting down Connor ....WD thinks DD and burrows can shutdown kopi et al ...they way GG tried to even his D pairings and WD his forward lines you'd think they worked together before or something ...

When he says granlund isn't a 4th line centre does he realize neither is Bo

So basically shut up and just say all good things, you're an idiot man. Thats why we're fans. Shut the (frank) up and don't read it if you don't like it. I've been a canucks fan my whole life and what I'm saying is that the Canucks are in a bad situation and I hate it. Can you honestly say that Willie D has done a good job of coaching or that JB has our team in a better spot than when he took over?
- HaidaGwaii16

WD is a crap coach no doubt. AND lidster is a bad D coach too. They are terrible and largely responsible for our woes. Yes there was injuries etc and other factors absolutely. Our outright lack of a system and in particular a defensive system is at the center however. If only we had a defensive zone exit strategy in place we'd be much better with that alone.

But JB has our team in a better spot yes. Restocking the cupboards in record time.

But it will take time to replace kesler outright too. Despite his shenanigans he was a huge part of the team for a defensive / offensive center w talent.

Are you joking? The Canucks were a perennial powerhouse for the last 15 years. We were the best team in hockey for 2 of the 4 seasons prior to JB taking over.

And, in the two and a half years since he took over, we are now a laughing-stock. We were arguably the worst team in the entire league last year.

Think about that for a second...

We were the best team in the entire NHL in 2011/2012. In 2015/2016 we were the worst.

Best to worst in 4 years.

A lot of that was Jim Benning's doing. Not all, but a lot.

And, it's hilarious how everyone is complaining that we aren't rebuilding. We were the worst team in the league last year. And, we're not rebuilding? What does rebuilding entail if being the worst team in the league for a season isn't even close to accomplishing it? Benning dismantled the team and replaced everyone who could score with players who can't score to save their lives. He took us straight to the bottom of the NHL standings. And, everyone thinks we aren't rebuilding...

If Mike Gillis had run the team into the ground this fast, everyone would have been outside the arena with pitchforks. But, Benning always seems to get a pass.

Worst team in the league last year. And, we aren't rebuilding. Chew on that for a while...

Fire Willie D if he's trying to put our second best scoring centre on the 4th line with two players that can't score. What is this guy thinking???? He's been overmatched at the NHL lever as a coach and should head back to junior. Isn't this why we got Sutter to take the defensive matchups so that Horvat didn't have to take those tough matchups, then this CHL coach goes and puts him on the 4th line? In what world does playing Horvat on the 4th line as your checking centre work our for the development of Horvat or the good of the Canucks season? Maybe the Canucks are tanking by keeping W.D. for a coach because he sure hasn't done anything since he's taken over. Kind of a stupid move to hire a rookie coach when you're trying to make the playoffs. Just have no clue what he's thinking putting our future #1 centre with 2 grinders to make sure he doesn't score and putting him against other teams best scoring lines, thereby diminishing his scoring chances even more. Wasn't that the huge problem last year was Horvat having to play against the top lines? Wasn't Sutter supposed to take those assignments this year so Horvat didn't end up with the worst +/- in the NHL again this year. So by having scoring problems, the genius Willie Dejardins coaching decision is to put one of our best scorers with the two worst scorers on the team on the fourth line and put our best defensive/face off centre on the second line with our secondary scorers. I have no clue what this guy is thinking. Why not put Henrik on the fourth line to balance the lineups too. FIRE THIS GUY ASAP.

I didn't say he wasn't good at drafting, I said his picks have been second guessed by most hockey experts. I really like the picks he's made, the trades, contracts, roster moves and public comments he's made have been questionable though.

Bo is more offensive than Sutter. If Sutter was brought in to be a two-way center, why not give him the "4th line/1st line shut down" center role and see if we can score more goals and keep the puck out of our net more.... #logic
- Codes1087

So far this year Sutter has generated more chances than Bo and so has Granlund.
Playing with two vets might help Bo but I have to admit I wonder about WD decisions .

This is something that can sink his career. This had better produce wins , because if it doesn't his job is on the line.

The truth though in training camp Bo was the fourth best center.

Could it be that they want to to see if Horvat can handle more of a defensive shut down role? Seems odd...

WD does leave us with head scratchers and there is lot's to criticize. Though he did stick with Baer to work out and somehow has turned Granlund's game up. But yeah he seems mired with a grinding style and leaves little to creating offense.

You think with the better D in place by JB we wil get the zone exits they wanted from last years disaster full of injuries etc

Regardless of how Bo's training camp was, doesn't it still seem silly to split him up from Sven? He basically saved the guys career and things could go downhill again if their chemistry is taken away.

(frank) some of you guys are killing me...in a laughing way...

So Gillis the mighty brought in Torts and the team finished with the worst points record in Canucks history. But hey it's so much better to blame JB for that... . Then along comes Benning and WTF 101 points the very next year...what a douce bag should have been 115, the (frank)ing bum. Then the next year they finish 3rd worst but let's blame JB for 3 years cause that's so much better. The guy has been here 2(frank)ing years...
That goes for Willie also
