I wish they would've signed Frans Neilsen - mickel25
Nice player, but he's a 32 year old player that Detroit signed to a 6 year deal for 5.25M a year. |

Dang. That is a ton of money! I thought he would have been cheaper than that. I retract my endorsement of signing Neilson. |

They also have Zetterberg and Franzen who will both be 40 when their contracts are up. Kronwall will be 37 when his is up.

Williams does this to Giroux or Voracek and we're asking for a 10+ game suspension. |

That's a long time to be without G or V. I'd ask for less. |

Blown out in the home opener... how long till Torts gets fired? - Feanor
They have Dubinsky as their No. 1 center. That just can't hold up for very long at all |

In all honesty, I don't know. I understand what his role is and why he was signed. That doesn't mean that I have to like the player and can't wish that he could do more or find faults with his game. Even if he wins 55% of his PK draws and helps lighten the load on Giroux, I still don't have to be happy with his overall skillset. - jmatchett383
It's a bit of a paradox. If a player can be a good face-off guy but if he has a broader skill set and offensive chops, everyone starts saying he's being wasted on PK and D-zone face-off duties. So you start giving him more O-zone time. Then you have to bring in a guy who in another good face-off guy. If he's got the broader skill set, everyone says he's being wasted in the... and so on. Or you bring in a cheap face-off slug like Gordon, and everyone complains he doesn't have other skills.

Hopefully Giroux or Voracek doesn't do what Malkin did. Good for Williams. If he gets suspended, they better take Malkin with him. Cheap shot by Malkin. |

Good points, but ideally you'd like to have multiple centers that can play against top lines, and matchup, as well as take draws and play on the PK. Same for lines. If Gordon was a LH shot, I don't think the Flyers sign him. |

Just by looking at the gif and not actual video it doesn't look like a cheap shot by Malkin. It looks like Holtby had just covered the puck with his glove about the same time Malkin tries to poke it free. |

Agreed. You don't chop the goalie. I don't care who you are or what team you are on. |

That was a full on slash. Not a poke attempt. |

Malkin clotheslined Williams before that and the Penguins hit Holtby previously in the game. Malkin had it coming. |
