Who is the best player for that job?
- MJL

In all honesty, I don't know. I understand what his role is and why he was signed. That doesn't mean that I have to like the player and can't wish that he could do more or find faults with his game. Even if he wins 55% of his PK draws and helps lighten the load on Giroux, I still don't have to be happy with his overall skillset.

They can keep their two from 92 and 93. LA has a longer drought.

Cleveland is the team that really "needs" a ring, but it's Cleveland, so I can't root for them.

- jmatchett383

Pretty sure the Cubs "need" a ring. 108 years seems like a sufficient amount of time to wait for everyone else to get one.

They sure could use one. But I think Chicago has won enough championships for the decade.

Only one game, but it looks like Marchand is going to collapse beneath the weight of that new bloated albatross contract he signed.

Like I said previously, I totally agree with your statement to paraphrase that having a player who can do what Gordon was signed to do, as well as chip in offensively and be a stronger player at ES, would be better for the team. I understand that. For now, the Flyers went with a short term player to help the situation. Long term, it's an area that needs to be upgraded.

Cubs fans are not necessarily Hawks fans. There are plenty of baseball-only peeps. And Cleveland did just win a championship this year already if you want to assume 4 for 4 (or 3 for 3) fanships.

Opening night predictions:

1. Flyers get goals from Ghost (PP), Voracek, Simmonds, and Weise. Giroux has 2 assists, Konecny gets his first point as a Flyer on the Voracek goal.

2. The Flyers go 4-for-5 on the PK.

3. Mason turns aside 25+ shots, allowing 2 goals.

4. Provorov leads all Flyers in TOI.

5. I fall asleep after the second period.

- jmatchett383

I like this, so I'm gonna go a little further. Season predictions.

Mason has a career season recognized by the league.

Giroux has a top three personal career season.

Couturier pots 20.

Provorov legitimate and is at minimum is within the Flyers top two in ice time per game.

Not a bad idea if he's on our third line. Brings balance and helps win games by shootout. Not sure of his price tag though.

Definitely would have made the team better. Not sure what contract he signed with Detroit.
