Great west coast road win to start the season. Rookies looked good. |

Yeah, it had been awhile. It was always frustrating -- remember when Laviolette got the gate? They just haven't gotten off to good starts in years |

Just a crazy sequence of events over the last few years, but this year feels different to me. It really does

for good reason. expectations should be tempered, but there's real reason for enthusiasm that this is the start of them becoming legit contenders in the near future. and really anything CAN happen. the pens looked like ass for the first two months, fired their coach and rode rookies to a cup while sid and geno were invisible. crazy. |

kids didn't look out of place at all and put points on the board. 4th line chipping in and grinding it out to hold the lead at the end. SOLID goaltending. a slow start, but that's expected. very nice road win to start the season. very nice. |

Exactly. That is exactly it
If you have the right coach, and two goalies who can play, and just a little depth, you can do this
They just haven't had the depth these last few years, so they were locked into playing veterans who were done like dinner for way too many important minutes
They have actual depth right now. I mean, wow. MDZ and Gudas didn't even play, no Schenn or Laughton. They have actual depth right now

They looked more than NHL ready, that's for damn sure. Provy was fantastic after a bumpy nervous first for him and really the team. Mature beyond his years and just an absolute rock. TK was just a ball of energy and offense. Love it.
Even that dumpster fire defense held up, especially Manning. Sooner Gudas and Mdz get back, the better, but Manning may be playing himself into the 6th spot. We'll see. I don't really trust him, but I don't trust Schultz and AMac either. VDV needs to go pronto though. Read is playing himself out of his spot too if he keeps it up. I thought the 4th (except for Gordon who played fine besides the goal) was actually kind of messy. Bumping one of Cuz or PEB down and putting in Lyubimov is looking like the future in a couple weeks. |

IKR
It's just so crazy. Morin, if he continues to develop, could get some games and help them with some of the physicality issues we saw tonight, when guys like Kopitar and King were just heavier on the puck
I haven't been this excited about this team since 2004 |

If Read has another gear, he needs to find it. It's OK to be smaller if you're faster. But what I see right now is a smallish player with no burst
Not trying to be nasty, especially after a win. But I honestly don't know if he keeps his roster slot when Schenn comes back -- Cousins simply looks better, and if you're a coin flip with VDV, you need to step it up |

I guess. He didn't do good at the dot OR play the PK much, so that was not really as advertised (face-offs will find level, but 30 sec on PK compared to 2+ min for VDV was interesting). Frankly he did a solid job tonight of driving play and competing. Really he didn't seem as expected. That's tonight at least. VDV and Read played like crap though. Stick PEB/Cousins and Lyub on his wings and we have a REAL 4th line just maybe. Not just a grinding AHL line. |
