Flyers are back baby!!! So pumped for a great sports day. My Jays play at 8 and then flyers hit the ice at 1130. Can't wait to see provy and kony in action. Our window to win is opening. Make the dance and win a round is the goal this year. - Hextall271

Gonna be hard to go further than the guy who captained Team USA to its worst record ever. |

Congrats to Phillies west, aka the LA Dodgers, for moving on to the NLCS!!
I'd love to see Utley, Chooch and Blanton get one more ring!

I'm just happy they took out Washington.
Was cool to see those guys come up big, though. |

Jansen with 2 and 1/3 IP! thought he might go for the 3 inning save. Cool to see Kershaw come in for the last two |

Hey, I hope he becomes a contributor with faceoffs wins, good zone reads, and basically just keeping scoring chances against to a minimum. And I know that Gordon won't be the difference between us winning or not winning the cup. I've just been underwhelmed so far, hope he turns me around. - jmatchett383
What we're you expecting to see from Gordon in the pre season? |

Does anyone else have center ice and the HD channel seems to freeze momentarily during broadcasts of any game? If so, any solution? Not even sure if we are on the HD channel tonight but if there's a way to fix it I'd like to know.
Frank LA. Frank Jeff Carter. Frank their coach with the sideways face.

Going into game 1 without three of your best players is not good. And one of the dmen tonight hasn't played a game against a proper NHL team since April.
But on the bright side, after tonight Manning will only have 13 games left to qualify as our unprotected 40/70 dman for the expansion draft. |

It would have been nice if he led the forwards in SH TOI...
Oh wait, he did. |

Are you talking about us or La? LA is missing Gabs, Pearson, Quick and we are missing Gudas, MDZ, and Schenner |

Less standing around, I suppose. He just looks very slow and, frankly, seemed lost at times.
I know he's not Johnny Gaudreau or Pavel Bure out there, but he moves slightly faster than 14/15 Umberger out there. Also, there were several times where he seemed to be covering no one in particular and was just generally unimpressive.
I get what his role is and all, I just don't generally like plodding players who offer little aside from "winning faceoffs." It was my understanding that he was also some sort of PK guru based on how he was used, but according to Bill, his role will be more of a "win, clear, go to bench" role which, to me, does not make him part of the regular PK rotation aside from stoppages in the defensive zone.
I know you think he is a key part of their team this year, but I just don't like him. I'm willing to let him prove me wrong, but I have my doubts. |

Do you think Giroux would shoot the puck into the net while play was dead and then run away from the goalie? |

In the few times I saw him play, that's not what I saw. He stood out to me as a better skater than I thought he would be. This is a veteran player, who knows how to play in his role. I think we should wait to see what his actual role is before making a judgment on that. As was noted above, Gordon led all forwards in TOI on the PK., in the pre season. We'll have to see how Gordon does. One thing I'm confident in saying is, if the Flyers don't lighten the load on Giroux moving forward, his days as a top player and #1 center will end sooner, rather than later. |

I agree the load on him has to be lightened. I just wish we had a player doing that in the mold of Bergeron light, someone who can lighten that load while also contributing secondary offense along the lines of Mike Fisher or even Jussi Jokinen. I know that finding those players is harder than finding a Boyd Gordon, but that's what I want. I'm done with "specialists" like Hall and White. |
