Yeah but you have Steve Ott

Sad part is he is the best player on that 4th line.

Acting out as a cry for help is the only possible explanation.

I don't understand what value he brings to DET. The only person who seemed to "see" his value was GARTH. Let that soak in.

I haven't had lower expectations for this team in my entire life.

Marchenko and Dekeyser both -25 5v5 shot attempt wise last night. Only 7 D men had a mark that bad all of last season

Maybe you guys should have drafted Chychrun, and tried trading Dats' contract somewhere else.

Decent final 40 minutes against a team that they probably should beat most nights. Backes looks like the right fit, hope he plays as well on the wing with Krejci when Bergeron gets back.

A few scrambles on D from the kids and Rask was shaky. Lots of things for Julien to work on still.

2 pts on the road though, on to Toronto.

Ideally you let Miller, Helm, Abdelkader walk in free agency, don't sign Ott or Vanek, draft Chychrun, and eat the Datsyuk contract. You play the young kids and don't give away 2 forwards on waivers.

Maybe Sweeney and Holland are actually the same person.

Think about it. Bad contracts. Poor cap management. Bad trades. Terrible prospect management. Poor asset management. Lose kids on waivers. They are literally the same guy.

Is meh. Overrrated, overpayed.
- glove_was_stuck

While I agree he is overpaid, (I would tend to believe it about every professional athlete to be honest, but I digress), he has usually been one of the best players on the ice. He hasn't had steady linemates in years either.

If Backes, Krejci, Spooner stays a thing, I can definitely see him getting to the 70 point mark again. Playing with a first game rookie and a Spooner playing on the wing is not the best way to evaluate him. He is a smart player.

Our problem seemed to be faceoffs last night. While they won the majority (slightly), Czarnik really needs to step up in that category on this team or he will be sent down or be moved to the wing. With a team that has 8 natural centers (including Bergeron), There is no room for someone who cannot win a draw. First game jitters and all that, but 17 % is unacceptable. And I like the kid and want to see him stay. This team should be crushing the Blue Jackets in Faceoffs, and they blew it several times when it mattered big time.

Spooner looked good, Backles looked good, I think Czarnik will be sent down eventually, maybe when Franky gets back. O'Gara looked good, Liles played good. Carlo was 'ok'

Shaw is fitting in perfectly in Montreal.
