I have followed this team since the 70's. They have never looked forward and built this team properly through the draft. They are like Sith want to be's... the quick and easy path leads to the dark side. It is looking like the beginning of the 80's again. Oilers, Flames, and Jets playing fast, high pace hockey with young superstars, and the Canucks plowhorses getting beat on.

OTTAWA – Immediately after the game in which he became the first player in NHL history to score 4 goals in an NHL debut, Auston Matthews announced his retirement. Experts and pundits unanimously agree that he will go down as the greatest player in the Toronto Maple Leafs 100 year history.

“I’ve had a pretty good run,” said Matthews in his postgame press conference, “and I’ve accomplished all I set out to accomplish in my career. There’s really nothing left for me to do.” When asked why he is choosing not to pursue a Stanley Cup, let alone a regular season win, Matthews replied, “I don’t think I need to anymore. This was so much sweeter. Nothing can top this.”

Matthews, who dazzled in the first and last game of his NHL career, retires as the franchise leader in points and goals scored on October 12th, 2016 in a game against the Ottawa Senators. Throughout his career, Matthews averaged 4 goals a game, more than Gretzky, Lemieux, and Ovechkin combined.

At press time, the Leafs announced Matthews’ jersey retiring ceremony, as well as the unveiling of his statue on the prestigious “Legends Row”, will take place this Saturday, when the Leafs face the Bruins on Hockey Night in Canada.

Oddly I like listening to the vancouver news "the early edition" in the mornings. Heard today that the average housing price this year so far was 890,000 or close to that. Ridiculous. Kind of crazy considering in Manitoba you could get a 4000 sq ft house for that much.

Best part of Matthews game is his mind and that he's already figuring out what he needs to do to help his team win games and that's not just score a bunch of goals. The future Pavel Datysuk, Anze Kopitar, Jonathon Toews right there.

Why? Is no one Optimistic about this team. As long as things don't go completely wrong with injuries, I think the team will be just fine. They may not win the presidents trophy . I just don't see the team being as bad as last season. They have a lot more experience. Half the guys they released didn't even make NHL clubs. If Bo is van's 4th line center, i'd say the team will be bring good.

Still think its a joke hes on the fourth line, for a team thats struggled to score, splitting up a line with chemistry and put up how many points to finish the season.
