It wasn't. It was Kane flying around at 1000 MPH, like always, which is great until he inevitably puts himself in a bad spot.

Push from behind at full speed 10 feet from the boards? Dirty. And it wasn't his first time doing it either.

If you count the first year they tanked, that makes this the start of year 4 - right?
- Phatjohnsn

Yea this would be year 4. I tend not to classify it by years but when the transition is made from seller to buyer. This rebuild imo technically ended when in the span of 6 months Murray moved half the war chest for 3 guys. They went up 8 spots and then added again in FA so you cant really say they're rebuilding anymore.

We all agree, however, I believe they were a bit in fear of potentially becoming Edmonton which had no real leadership and continually failed.

Also, to those that think Myers would have gotten Hall: if that were even remotely true, Murray would have pulled the trigger so fast on that deal our heads would have been spinning.

- kingcong39

Peter Chiarelli was not the GM of EDM when Myers was moved to WPG.

The overall point people are making is that Murray blew his load early on Kane, Bogo and O'Reilly and to an extent Lehner.

Players much better than the ones listed above (sans O'Reilly) have been available since. We depleted assets that could have been used to get those players.

Agreed 100% with your point on myers but as far as leadership goes, the problem with that is they added guys who could no longer lead. Like its one thing to have a voice in the locker room, but you cannot be classified as a leader if rookies with >20 games are outplaying you at 1/10th of your salary whilst your accomplishing nothing in the bottom 6/bottom 4.

If we go back to last year the best players on this team, the ones that really came through semi consistently were all youngsters. its the vets that made me want to tear my hair out.

In the WPG case you could make the argument that those were depreciating assets. I doubt Armia would be as valued 6 months-1 year later the same way he was that day. Same is probably true for lemieux to an extent.

They "won" the special teams game, but got crushed 4-1. Maybe reserve this image for when it makes sense?

Hindsight is always 20/20. There's no guarantee that any of the later moves would have been available had the first set not happened.

We get it, you don't like the Kane/Bogo trade. You've done nothing but piss and moan about it every chance you've gotten.

Didn't BUF finish dead last 4 years ago? Wouldn't a rebuild start with a top 5 pick (Reinhart)?
- ShayneCorsi

Last season was the first year our top picks played on the team. Years before we were still dismantling and adding .

I said Myers would have got Hall but at the time the Oilers were not moving Hall, they wanted Risto and Murray said no 2 times.

They don't make that trade, they absolutely had enough cheap assets to get a Brandon Saad, Phil Kessel, and others who are more productive than what we got in Kane

Saad is the obvious one here but i dont know if any of those assets get him. they got a young nhl er in anisimov and Dano who was very promising at the time. Does armia/lemieux+1st equal that? They probably wanted players who could step right in.

Or they wanted the best deal possible. He was a RFA that wanted 6 mil per. Limited the teams he could go to

Getting Robin, Kane, Bogosian and O'Rielly..

We lost six players and a late first round. Also, I liked the Colorado deal but if you convince Vegas to take Kane AND let Lehner walk next year, you have two left.

My point here is Ben Bishop

I love hockey.

I'm glad hockey is back.

Sabres might be good, might be bad. Too early to tell.

Murray may have made some good move and quite possibly made some bad.

I don't know.

Either way I'd rather live in a world with hockey.

You're right. Like looking to see what can be done to make the team better instead of incessantly whining about the past.

God knows you do enough of whining about it for the rest of the fan base.
