Semi-serious question:
In the 90s, the Flyers were in the Lindros era.
After the Lindros trade until the lockout, they didn't have an era.
After the lockout, we had the Forsberg era for a year and a half.
After that, we have the Richards era.
Since the Richards trade, we haven't, again, really have any era.
What player do you think will have the next era in Flyers hockey? Are we beginning the Ghost or Provorov era? - jmatchett383
I always consider the post-Lindros teams to be the "Hitchcock era". There wasn't really one defining player from that era (you could argue it was JR, I guess, but that's not my first instinct). Those early 2000's teams seemed always to fall short, culminating in the 2004 team that, if it wasn't for some untimely injuries, might have won the Cup.
I guess you could call this era the "Giroux era", since the team has been built with Giroux as the marquee guy since 2012.
I think the next era will be related to the rise of the young d-men coming up. |

I will add that a high ankle sprain is the most nightmarish pain I have ever experienced. And its lasts for weeks.

I've seen every single televised or streamed preseason game and listened to the radio on the one that wasn't. Is this supposed to be some sort of dig at me...I don't know what you're getting at. - Mononoke
Nope, not a dig at all, just curious. |

I thought we were in the AMac era? No?
All kidding aside, I'm hoping when we look back 20 years from now, we fondly remember the upcoming decade as the Hextall built us Cup winner era! |

Salary Cap. - MJL
But surely if he is a top 4 defenseman then wouldn't the Flyers kept him and found someone else?
I don't know any other team that would send down a top 4 defenseman just because salary issues. |

Because they needed to use that cap space to shore up other areas would be my guess.....

I think that Cap reasons were the biggest reason, but I also think that part of it was they weren't happy with his overall play from the previous season. He did not play up to his potential., and was inconsistent. We can speculate why, but that doesn't really matter. Hextall had also signed Medvedev to play, and in my opinion, committed to playing Manning, even before camp and pre season started. In my opinion, MacDonald belonged on the team, and not sent down. |

The main ligament is in the soft spot in the middle of the ankle, but when torn it can cause a total disruption of the whole leg (knee to ankle). It is also not uncommon to suffer a spiral fracture in the proximal (closer to the knee) fibula with severe high ankle sprains. Brutal and lengthy injuries. Not uncommon to be out 2-3 months with bad ones. |

I appreciate how Panotch brushed off his Mason-Neuvirth semi-controversy column the other day and now today, the Coots needs to score more column. You have to take them for a spin every now and again or they get dust on them.
Now entering his fifth season with the Flyers, Couturier has yet to score 20 goals and posted just 39 points last season, tying his career high.
Nowhere does he mention he missed like 20 games. In fact, it's Coots at the bottom of the article who brings that up defending himself. What a little inciting hobgoblin. |
