Definitely not anywhere near Matt Carle at his peak. I just meant they're similar in being all-around D-men in terms of skating, passing, agility without really being dominant in any one skill area. Neither one particularly physical, both inclined toward backing in too easily and making some bad turnovers. Matt Carle most certainly played at a higher level when he was a Flyer.
- ChoclitLeClair

Many people aren't aware of this, but there was an area of the game that Carle was dominant in, and that was scoring at ES. One season, Carle led all NHL defenseman in ES scoring, as a Flyer. He also led the league in plus games one season. Carle was also much better defensively than given credit for.

Nah he will do it and get suspended. Manning will make it all look like an accident. He really should ditch the hockey thing and go into wetwork

I brought up Matt Carle the other day. Michael Del Zotto reminds me of Carle in a sense that while Del Zotto isn't ideal to carry the team's heavy workload, we might have to ask him to. Matt Carle was this guy at times. It was very rare when Timonen's didn't play but when Timonen couldn't, Carle had to step into that role. Of course when we lost Chris Pronger, that's as big a loss as it gets but than we lost Carle and only replaced him with Luke Schenn I guess, with only Timonen and Coburn being our only reliable defenders to take on our toughest opponents.

Now, a handful of people laughed at me for comparing MDZ to Carle but there is no guarantee Del Zotto is gonna sign a short term fair deal with the Flyers. There is no guarantee Del Zotto will meet the expectation his next deal may bring whether that's here or somewhere else. All I can say is as much as I wasn't really a Carle fan, he was extremely underrated for us. For some reason beyond Pronger, Timonen, Coburn and Carle, there was always a huge drop off and it only got worse as we lost them one by one.

A long term 5.5 contracts looks bad when it's being bought out. It doesn't look so bad when you appear in Stanley cup finals.

The MDZ to Carle comparison really doesnt make any sense. The players are in no way shape or form similar. Also, Carle never had to "carry us". He played on a team that had a defense that at one point consisted of Pronger, Timonen, Meszaros and Coburn. Carle's best attribute was his passing. He was a very good passer. Outside of that, he lacked a certain energy it seemed. THANK GOD he didnt resign for us for what he signed for in Tampa....

"It's not good," Kings general manager Dean Lombardi said after a 2-1 loss to the host San Jose Sharks.

Amazing game by Matthews, especially on the second goal. Anyone else notice that he never once smiled after scoring his first goal? I mean, I wouldn't either if I was scoring goals for the Maple Leafs.

Also, his mom is pretty cute.

Would bang...but also...how do those two make a dude as ugly as him. He has a top 10 most punchable face in the NHL. Marner was awesome that game too....and Rielly my new fave

I didn't get to watch any of the game, forgot we get a free week of Center Ice until after the 2nd. At that point, control of the TV had been relinquished to my wife to watch "This Is Us" On Demand.

I just kinda threw top 10 out there because I knew he would be in it, but never really thought about it other than Kennedy and Marchand. They are easily 1 and 2.

Kessel though?
