Flames took a gamble on Shink because they are hurting for scoring. Granlund is a good player but really not much space for him on the bottom 6 in Calgary.

I think if Granlund is going to be effective it will be on our quasi 2nd line with Sutter and Rodin/Eriksson but I also wont be surprised to see them go back to plan A and have him center Dorsett and Burrows.

Where do Odd's makers get the idea that Toronto has a better chance then Van at winning the stanley cup? Toronto has a bunch of kids. Since when have "kids" won anything in this league? Edmonton, 10 years of no playoffs. Arizona was just as bad as Van last year. Winnipeg went with a young line up and again ended just as bad as Van was. Buffalo another young team are slowly starting to get better after like 5 years.

There's no chance that unless Injuries happen the same as last year that Van has another season like that. I am not saying Van is going to the win the cup but not a chance they see a 60 point season.

Just look at Van last season with so many "kids" playing in the line up.

I think they didn't waive Etem earlier is to make sure bottom feeders like toronto and edmonton got their fill on other teams waiver wire drops and maybe Etem slips through today... since a better team would have to pick him up, which is less likely...

I think there's a huge likelihood that Etem ends up in Utica. Time to find his game and gets called up possibly for a trading partner later in the year.

I think it's just about numbers, Gaunce, Granlund, Virtanen, Skille. So depending on youth movement and Skille providing that grit could determine the opening lineup. Ruutu played well enough and who knows might get a contract somewhere else.

I wonder if that will happen once Rodin is healthy again. Either him or Gaunce I imagine but waiving gaunce means Granlund is back to the 4C role which I don't think they like.

Yeah I'm sure the Etem haters will be happy with it. Too bad he didn't use his tool or else he'd still be here. But I would rather have Rodin as a 2nd line potential scorer than Etem anyday.
