Ok so throw the kid in there and see what he can do. Eventually he will have to. - kasperrko
That's what they did with Bailey and it didn't turn out to well. Doesn't mean that every kid will respond the same, but it failed miserably with Bailey. Had they taken the time to develop him and let him build up a little confidence then I think he may have turned out to be a decent, or better, player. |

And the team would have been screwed if most, if not all, of those guys didn't get their act together even with PAP...so this is a good point. - Harambe
Any other year Garth would have kept PA and everyone would be chirping that he sucks. The fact that they cut him and admit that he got outplayed, shows they have better options. Im not going to hit the panic button until theres reason to panic. |

Man, whats the problem here......he's 19. They are going to let him ease into this. I dont have a problem thus far with anything thats been done (except Pulock not starting). - kindlyrick
Then why is that other kid playing? Dont ask me to spell his name cause I will botch that up real bad |

Point is not really about Barzal. Kid is going to be a stud. It's more about the way they do things and the fact that most times you just shake your head. Like the fact that Pulock is not on the opening night roster Facking seriously??? - Vukota
It goes back to not having professional coaches. Coaches that can guide these young players and help decide which ones to keep and which need to be moved, It's no accident the Isles have had very mixed results with their young talent. |

Great then play them and not put Barzal in the press box in the first game to prove himself - kasperrko
Did it ever occur to you that maybe Garth is showcasing someone, to make a trade? |

Ok then why have the kid up in the first place. Could have sent him down and then you could have kept PAP. See it does not make sense |

Because Beauvillier is a Cizikas type player (bottom 6). A relentless forward with speed and skill. He's going to play 3rd line and PK. |

Not in the slightest I have no faith in Garth and his hockey knowledge at all. There is no way he is doing that |

Strome went back and played two more junior seasons after his draft year.
I was wrong, forgot about Nino. He played 9 games the year he was drafted. (This is why I always like to get my facts in order before I say something )
Although, in my defense...this team was hot garbage when Nino was given his chance, so I'd still argue that Barzal making the team at this age is more impressive. - Harambe
Yeah I knew Nino was 18 - 19 and thought Strom was as well. Thx. |

Yeah, I mean there's undoubtedly pitfalls with having an inexperienced roster. I just think that if you stick anyone with Tavares, they'll produce similarly to what PAP would have done. - Harambe
Honestly having Barzal and or Beau in the lineup wouldn't make the Islanders an inexperienced line up chief imho. Most of the team has been there for the last two playoff years and a hand full of vets have stanley Cup rings. This actually makes for a nice time to introduce a couple of young kids full of piss and vinegar trying to prove themselves. Look at the Pens last year. They stuck some kids in their line up ( on top of a coaching change ) and it energized the team.

This is true. It all comes back to coaching. Young talent will be fine with the right coaching. |

#Isles have assigned Adam Pelech and Ryan Pulock to BPT. Now down to 23-man roster (14F/6D/3G).
There ya go - Harambe
This can't be what their going into the season with. They need at least 7 defensemen. Pulock will be up in short order. The question is which forward will be going down (unless the Halak injury is long-term)? |

I still don't understand cutting Pap over Quine or Prince. He might not be the best player in the world but he was good for 20 goals. Can you say the same about Quine or Prince? - Vukota
Agreed. It doesn't make sense. I also thought it was a golden opportunity to shed Kulemin's contract at $4M per instead of a productive Parenteau, but I guess not. |
