Subban won the award in a shorten season and Weber has finished ahead of him in voting for the same trophy every other year
- obie

In 2014/15, Subban finished 3rd in voting. Weber 4th

So.....yeah

So. Condon is gone to Pittsburgh?
Bit of a head scratcher.
Fleury or Murray on the move?

- mlindsay

Murray out for a couple of games.

Condon will be on waivers before Hallllloweeen

Fair enough

2010-11 Weber finished 2nd in voting, Subban no votes
2011-12 Weber again 2nd to Subban receiving no votes
2013-14 Weber 3rd in voting, Subban 14th
And last year Weber was 11th to Subban's 14th

The argument can and will keep going for a long time but to say it was lopsided one way or the other is stretching reality a little

Talent is one thing, and we can all agree Subban has more if it than Weber.

However, in many other aspects Weber is much better than Subban, be it leadership, Defensive play, size, checking, shooting, Weber just moves the puck and gets the job done with high percentage plays.

Subban will get the spectacular play every so often, but will cost goals. And his biggest flaw is he thinks he's bigger than the team. Why do you think Team Canada wants no part of him in their lineup. He has the talent to make it.

Come on.....you're not exactly being fair with those stats. 2010-11 was PK's first full season. Guess how many votes Weber received in his first full season? Yep - zero

And guess how many votes Weber received in his second full season? One

I'm not arguing that Weber isn't good. And I'm certainly not arguing that he's never been good. The dude was unreal from 2008 - 2014. My point is that you're trading a player on his way up for a player who's clearly on his way down

It would make sense if it were a cost-cutting move. But Weber's contract is actually WORSE than PK's. And I suppose it would make sense if you were forcing Nashville to take on risk in the form of an unknown talent. Say, if Philly swapped Provorov for Weber. But PK is proven to be elite

I'm sorry, but you're kidding yourself by not admitting that Montreal got hosed. Just wait - history will prove that this was one of the worst trades ever

Like I said, the debate has raged on for months now and I applaud you for the effort you put in with your 1000 word essay but it's all been said already, from both sides of the debate... so frankly I don't care, you're opinion is exactly that, it sure won't be the one that tips the scale one way or the other, not for me anyway...

Like I said, history will expose this trade as the lopsided mess that it is. Although I would argue that everyone outside of la belle province is already able to see that

??? Your question is completely illogical

I assume you're trying to make the point that winning an award doesn't necessarily make you a great player? Is that what you're trying to do?

Sure, that may be true in some cases. But the fact that Subban won the award while Weber was in his prime is certainly a strong piece of evidence in favour of Subban. And, at age 31, with players like Karlsson, Doughty, Ekblad, Subban, and Hedman just entering their respective primes, it's very likely that Weber's Norris trophy window is shut

If you look at the Weber vs Subban trade objectively, anyone can see that it's unbelievably lopsided

On another (unrelated) note: Jose Theodore winning the Hart Trophy was a travesty. It's been proven that, in an effort to give Theodore the win, many French-Canadian writers left Jarome Iginla (the guy who deserved to win) off their ballots all together. Shameful and embarrassing

- AxlRose91

Travesty that Theodore won - that is right. But also, to put things in perspective Subban and Webber are different. Also, Norris counts doesn't mean everything. If Karlsson was fully healthy that year, subban wouldn,t have won that norris. Also, look at last year NOrris and that's also another traversty.

However, I think its a trade that benefits both teams but I think Subban is slightly better right now, swap for swap, but I think Webber makes MTL a better team today.

The pure definition of history starts with "events that happened in the past"

... maybe I'm looking at the Oshawa dictionary?

If Pitt puts him on waivers Habs can reclaim him and put him directly in the AHL without having to go through waivers, which is what i believe would happen if Pitt ends up waiving him.
