One has to think that if We are 3rd in line for waiver claims we have a decently good shot. 1 - Tor and 2 - Edm don't really have the spots for him. I am not sure how many contracts each team currently has signed but I am really hoping we can pick him up. There is a recent blog on hockeybuzz that explains some of Pulkinnen's offensive numbers in limited ice time with poop line mates and it is crazy.

I didn't know anything about Pulkkinen, having read a little bit I think we'd be crazy not to pick him up if he's available.

Type in "Pulkkinnen shot" on youtube. He plays as the 4th forward on the PP and he plays the point with just a canon slap shot.

What that means is that whoever Benning signs from a PTO (IF he signs any) is worth more to him than Seth Griffith and Teemu Pulkkinen. It also means that Emerson Etem is valued more than both those players. I am quite shocked we didn't put in a waiver claim for him.. A Little Frustrating..

Benning is an idiot. Why would he keep Etem and not take a chance on someone with way more upside? #fireJB

Detoit has been on the decline with Holland at the helm for a few years now.
Holland has had some of the worst asset management in the last 3 years but its easier to target Benning than it is Holland.
Frk, Pulkkinen, Nakladal, all lost for nothing.

Drew Miller, Steve Ott are both WAY worse players than Pulkkinen. Pulkkinen has some outrageously good stats but has never been put in a position to succeed, both with crappy line mates and playing under 10 minutes a game on the 4th line. Seth Griffith (even though he didn't make it past the first team) is by no means scrap either. He is in the same position as Pulkkinen in that he played limited minutes with terrible players. Rinaldo/Ferraro are not exactly possession driving line mates.

I don't believe waiving Etem was even an option anymore, at least until after the season started. Yesterday was the last day you were able to place a player on waivers for the purpose of sending them to the AHL. Rosters have to be set today, so only players who are exempt can be sent down now.

I agree, DET has become a bit of a trainwreck. Perhaps he is better than Etem or perhaps he isn't. Etem can play 4th line and it sounds like Pulkkinen needs top 6 ice time. He isn't good enough to make the top 2 lines. That being said Etem has been pretty lousy and there should be better options out there.

Teemu Pulkkinen for one, if he's there at the #3 spot.

A fresh start on a better team although they have key injuries is still only an opportunity & yet to be seen how it works out for him.

Unfortunately thats what it will take for linden to fire his buddy. I have real trouble cheering for my team to lose however. I'm glad however that more and more people are seeing that willie isnt an NHL level coach like I was saying 2 off seasons ago.

Since its his buddy Im thinking they get him to step down instead of being canned so it looks better on him.

We have 48 or 49 contracts out of 50 already.
Premature to fritter away more this early before the season starts.

performance wise yes they are. But they seem to have gems for prospects. But that also raises the question was holland a genius drafter or did babcock do amazing things with those players that make holland look good? we'll find out in the next few years

Ruutu over skille for sure. But he'd be in utica.

JV stays and with granlund moving over to wing and looking good there that leaves a spot at 4C perfect for gaunce.

So JV and gaunce stay, ruutu signed but in utica.
