There is a joke about both kids making the team, then Ghost getting sent down to the AHL somewhere, I just cant find it :/

It's all about the cap and how to make the roster fit Tuesday at 5PM. When MDZ, Laughton and Alt all need to be on it before they get IR'ed. I didn't add Manning to that since it seems he might be ok for this weekends games.

Easiest way under the cap is to waive those two.

Gudas' imminent suspension pisses me off because it is a pure reputation suspension. ANYONE ELSE who makes the same hit would not face supplementary discipline.

It's cap management. Ghost would be immediately recalled. Just a paper move

Hextall tells media that Provorov and Konecny have made team and it's not a 9 game try out. He expects them to stay all year, says they've earned it

I feel very proud of Hextall and the decision he made on Konecny and Provorov.

Maybe it seems like an easy decision in retrospect, but I think it was a very tough call.
Especially on Konecny.

I think and hope he did the right thing.

Also so very excited to watch them this year with Flyers, yay!

Eff pens but don't want to see that happen. while all concussions are serious esp to someone with a history, hopefully this one isn't too severe

Agreed. I don't root for injuries for any player. It doesn't seem like the cumulative effects of the concussions hurt Crosby's performance that is for sure. Still the best player in the world by a significant margin.

That sucks.

As I was forced to watch some of the Pens-CBJ on Saturday while waiting for the Flyers to come on NHLN, they mentioned he was a last minute scratch because he didn't feel well coming to the arena or something. I blew that off as "he'd played enough hockey with the World Cup, he doesn't need pre-season", but I guess he was genuinely injured.

Concussions are the worst; hope he's not out too long.

Man, when did that happen.

Thank god it wasn't from a Gudas hit.

from what I read there was no on-ice collision or incident that obviously caused it.

How many pre-season NHL games has he played? Could have happened in practice, or the World Cup.

Edit: There it is.

By time yesterday passed and Provorov and Konecny were still with Flyers, it was pretty safe assumption both had made the team.

Who knows. It sucks for the NHL. I doubt he will be out long term from this. I wouldn't even be surprised if he played Thursday. Or is he not allowed to play Thursday? I guess it depends on when he was diagnosed.

I completely agree. I think it's also great for other prospects to see a precedent that they aren't stuck slow cooking no matter what. I really love how Hextall is building this team!

It does suck about Crosby. Watching him play at the world cup, I think he was on another level. His prime time certainly. Undoubtedly the best two way player in the game.

Major props to Konency and Provorov making the roster. I have a feeling we're going to see a lot of Provorov on the ice in the last minute of a game up by a goal. He just has that feel of a special dman.

Konency was equally impressive. Making the roster at a new position. I thought clearly he was the best option for the 2nd line LW position with his play. Its terrific to have another puck carrying winger like Voracek in the top 6.

It is going to be a fun year.
