Honestly, it was obvious Ghost had the skill, but he did not have a great camp.

I do think that the timing of Ghost's callup had a lot to do with his success though. I would for a second act like Hextall planned it that way, but Ghost got an opportunity and made the most of it

I agree, the player was coming off a serious knee injury and missed a lot of hockey. Hextall made the right call, and in my opinion, handled it perfectly by sending him down to the AHL, to get some playing time in there, and get his game and timing back. To have thrown him right into the NHL at the beginning of the season, would've been a mistake, and unfair to Gostisbehere.

Because this place is the same place as last year when several of the defensemen outplayed all but a couple of the incumbents and couldn't make the team because "preseason hockey isn't regular season hockey so you can't evaluate rookies against lesser competition" and "prospects can't be over cooked so be safe and send them back."

Now they're the same folks going "Well they obviously earned their spot" even though it's still the preseason.

You know... whatever the Flyers decide is gospel when it comes to Hextall and prospects.

I wasn't really commenting on what Hextall is doing. More over the reaction on here when decisions are made.

Yeah, I don't agree with everything that they do and I'm not all "rush them to the show" either. I just want the players who play the best to be in the lineup when I turn on the TV or go to the game.

Oh, and not to trash your optimism but if Konecny is in the top 5 in rookie scoring I'd be stunned. Happily stunned but stunned none the less.

Hexy is unwilling to lose scrubs like VDV or Manning through waivers, but over the last few seasons, Holland is just giving away true and cheap NHL depth talent. Hexy agonized over an old bum like Chris Porter. Did you know Holland has lost through waivers Nestrasil on Carolina, Jarnkrok on Nashville, Janmark on Detroit? For nothing. Each of those are now true NHL talents capable of being traded for good value, if they even wanted to trade them but instead play them as valuable bottom 6 pieces. Now he's lost Frk, who people say had a great camp, to Carolina again. You know they're on top of their poop. He'll now lose Pulkkinen certainly. All to now ice a 4th line of Drew Miller - Luke Glendening - Steve Ott.

The overcooking nonsense has nothing to do with the prospects. It has to do with Holland's irrational love for old declining players and fear of young talent.
