Not really.

MacDonald will be left unprotected.

I think they will be fine.

- J35Bacher

Yeah, he needs to play like 50 games.

I think he will, if healthy, and Schultz should be the #7.

not sure what the rules are behind all that just yesterday they were saying manning wouldn't be able to maybe things changed today
- 2Real

A player has to be medically cleared for play in order to be waived/sent down. He was "week to week" but since he's skating, that may have been accelerated.

So do I.

Hell he has played well this preseason.

I think the Flyers will be fine in leaving guys unprotected for expansion.

For some reason I could see Streit, Schultz and MacDonald all getting time in the press box throughout this season unless they can find a trade for a defense needy team

“I feel pretty good [now]. It’s nice to be able to skate with the team and keep my conditioning. Right now it’s just patience and giving it some time to heal.”

When asked if he thinks he’ll be ready to suit up on opening night next Friday, Manning said “I hope so.” He says he’ll make the road trip.

lol was I the only one that watched Invincevande last year?

really doesnt matter though...they know what they have to do. if it were my job as a GM to comply with those rules I would make it easier on myself and I would also look to retain players over losing them for nothing. Manning isnt good enough to make that much of a difference, but he is the cheapest option to sit in the pressbox for most of the year

I don't get it. PEB looks terrible at 3C and the lines a mess...Cousins goes back to 3C with PEB on his wing and the line stabilizes. So in practice today, there's PEB right back at 3C.

And it seems Ghost is going to be shackled to one of Schultz or AMac. Coaches clearly want that. Wonderful. We better pray MDZ isn't really injured. Just look at that top 4. It's like our coaches see a wonderful new toy in Provorov and are like, "< Nick Schultz "

It wouldn't be the worst idea to dress 11 F and 7D at times in the first couple of months. Then you get Manning's 14 games taken care of nice and early and don't have to worry about it, and his AHL level puck skills won't hurt you as much in 10 minutes versus 17.

Just double shift Jake and Raffl on the 4th line.

What is your preferred to 6 with MDZ and Manning unfit?

Btw, PEB had the best CF% on the team last night and only played 2 minutes with Cousins.

Who would you pair him with?

Here is the thing with Gostisbehere. As dynamic is he really isn't a top 4 guy. I mean hypothetically if the d prospects work out he won't be a top 4 guy.

By pairing Gostisbehere with Schultz or MacDonald it allows Gostisbehere a little me freedom since they are stay at home guys.

MacDonald and Gostisbehere weren't that bad together.

Ghost is assuredly a top 4 guy, now and in the future. And yes, they were that bad together. Sticking him with Schultz is just as bad. It's like the coaches want to actively sap his offense at evens. It makes no sense. Plus aren't they the ones supposed to be getting the bulk of d zone draws? You say more freedom, I say more freedom within the radius of his leash to them.

it has been brought up before and i havent warmed up to the idea. I think enough things happen throughout a season that Manning will get 14 games, especially with ol' boy Streit

Right now I would start the season like this:

Del Zotto - Gudas
Provorov - Streit
MacDonld/Schultz/Manning - Gostisbehere

I know he is the new toy but Provorov is going to play top 4 minutes. And Gudas and Del Zotto, if healthy, will be a defacto top pair to start

Apart from that, you get more ice time for Raffl and Jake (who don't PK) at the expense of guys like Gordon and VDV. Once Laughton is healthy enough to be demoted, you could even replace Read with Lyubimov.
