Konecny/Couts/Jake
Read/Couts/Jake
Raffl/Couts/Jake
one of these looks exciting and will give them a really nice two way, scoring line
the other two make me feel blah - Marc D
Why does the one with Read excite you more than the other 2? |

the injuries and Schenn's suspension definitely create problems. they have 8 dmen if they keep Provorov and how can you not at this point? they either go with 14/7 or 13/8. 13/8 is a little sketchy with Schenn suspended. that leaves them with no spares on forward which is ok unless someone gets hurt in game 1 or 2. and they have to carry Alt, Laughton and Manning on the cap. Personally I would be looking to move Schultz freeing up 2.25 and a roster spot. Is there a team that needs a veteran defensive dman? |

Great former Canuck! Cause he never played a game for us! haha. - storm88
During his first stint, during which he scored 20 goals as a rookie and scored like 9 goals in a 5-game series against Montreal in 2008, he was actually a very good player who could play any forward position in any role. After the injuries in Columbus set in, it was all over.
Had Vancouver retained him, he could have given them a very good 7-8 years. |

Matt Read will be the new Chris Vandevelde.
As long as Vandevelde isn't around

Maybe they demote Weal to the AHL and he, by his own free will, accompanies them on their road trip to begin the season. |

Read and Vandy seem to be the easiest way to fix this cap issue, nobody will claim either of them on wavers...and if they do...sweet. |

Would anyone trade Weal + 3rd round pick or Weal + Read + 5th for Yakupov? |

Right now I think Read for Yakupov straight up is fair.
Yakupov really has little value and word is he is starting the season in the pressbox even after having an ok preseason |

It would have to be Read for our cap to work.
And while I think Read is better than him, he's cheaper and has one less year left, so yes. But I'd do a 1-for-1. |

It would help our cap situation quite nicely, too. |

I really dont want to make a bad roster call in the name of taking a cap hit in a few months... |

You'd have to demote 1 defenseman as well, I think. |

I think they can waive Read, Vandevelde and one defenseman and be 937k under the cap without LTIR anyone.
If Manning is close to being ready he can be 7 defenseman. |

I really think that, of the guys not injured, Schultz has been the worst. He's not really good at anything in particular, and his foot speed is a huge concern for me. I know he's one of those guys that coaches love, but if they're really basing this on merit, he should be the one to sit/be demoted. |

Dont need to read anything else beyond that combo.
For me that is a legit second line.
