This is where you send a message early by dropping a guy like Bailey. That will send a message to the room. This team cannot be allowed to be comfortable like in the past. - ses111
Well, fair criticisms aside...they did do that with Moulson after a slow start. So let's see what happens and how they start.
Tonight was putrid but it's still just a preseason game. You can bet the vets weren't giving 100%, nobody wants to get injured busting their ass in a preseason game. |

True, but you'd think at least a few guys would want to prove they belong in the starting line-up on opening night. There's too much complacency on the team. As ses and others have pointed out, Bailey almost sets the tone. The guy is entering his 9th year of coasting and almost never sits. |

PP needs moar Seidenberg breakouts, IMHO tbh - eichiefs9
I think it needs more Tavares and PAP on the point. They looked like naturals there tonight. |

No idea what Strome's deal is? Has he been hanging out with Reinhart? Would be crazy for the Isles to have to move another lottery pick. - ses111
The awesome tutor lage of our coaching staff. They seem to bring the best out of all these high draft picks. |

You would think Garth would be pissed with how Cappy has handled his draft picks? Nino, Reinhart, is Strome next? |

Let's hope the next trade work out better. Garth needs to be ready to make corrections quickly. |

Well I just finished that unpolished turd of a game and lackluster effort here's my thoughts.
1 we need a trade right (frank)ing now
2 pulock just made the opening night roster because
3 seidinberg is awful flat footed looks like a pylon out there I counted 3 times a guy blew right by him
4 not getting Taylor hall is a disgrace, sorry a (frank)ing disgrace
5 barzal needs to make the team at least he flashed some skills and looks like he's gonna contribute and soon
6 Ryan strome....see #1
7 team looked flat again how many times did we see this last year all be it is the preseason
8 if I had to listen to these guys every night I'd mute the game because they are clueless I mean Ryan strome is coming off a great year.....if you don't know what you're talking about don't talk about it
9 I hope ray bourque railed this guy really hard like he couldn't sit for a week hard

Agreed with everything save for #2 due to Capuano. Seidenberg is the new Strait thankfully it'll be only for a year this time. It's preseason but that was an abortion of epic proportions. Jesus how do they still throw people who have no business on the point during the PP and just think it's going to work? Who in their right (frank)ing mind would put PAP or JT on the point.
Funniest part of the broadcast for me was when the announcer said that Boychuk and his flame thrower of a shot better start contributing more on the PP because that's what is truly holding this team back. Its terrible pp. Well he would need to be on the PP to contribute to it now wouldn't he? |

What an abortion of a broadcast that was brutal and the best 2 chances were both from barzal, he tries to do a little too much but I'd rather see him with jt that concrete skates parenteau. If seidinberg is gonna get beat all the time at least let pulock learn from it and allow him to be a weapon on the pp |

I always say the game is about playmaking. What we saw today was a total lackf of creativity. I think the coaching staff has done a lot of good things to get them two 100 pt seasons and two playoff appearances. The big question is can they take this team to the next level?
The two WAS announcers pointed out how Sullivan in PITT brought out the offensive talents of the players. |

Capuano never got his hands on Reinhart. If he had Garth never would have gotten a first rounder for him. |

Strome is a big concern 7. I do not like the line of JT Ladd and PA at all. PA cannot be on the first line. It is only preseason, but there are concerning signs. I really hope guys like Ladd and Chimera let the team know these type of efforts are not acceptable. - ses111
Total embarrassment tonight Ses
Something or someone needs to kick this team in the arse and wake them up because the season starts Thursday. |

That first line is a dumpster fire with PA. This team is at a stage where PA cannot be on the first line. Guys like PA, Bailey, or Kulemin cannot be on the 1st line of a serious team. It's going to come down to guys like Ladd and Chimera 7 as I do not believe JT is the fiery type. This teams needs to be on a short leash. |

Shat is getting old Ses. Accountability is just absent and it's lacking starting from the top to the bottom. Again I know it's pre season but come on have some pride in the jersey your wearing.

We'll see what ledecky does if they come out slow. I think there should be some serious heat on the staff so hopefully if something isn't working we don't see it for months. Cuts by tomorrow. |

What about Seidenberg who should be by all accounts battling for a spot?

Guys I wouldn't be too worried losing a preseason game. In fact, I prefer for isles to be reminded by one of top teams in NHL now when it doesn't count. We simply let game get away early and caps shut it down after.
I agree with everyones concern on strome. This guy plays with zero confidence now.
Let that meaningless loss serve as lesson and let's focus on picking up where we left off on Thursday and continue our dominance of rags.
You know what cures a 4-0 preseason loss. 2 straight wins. |

They played their final pre season game last year in WAS and they got plastered worse than this. Credit WAS with having their team and offense clicking on all cylinders. And that's the difference with Trotts who has developed offensive chemistry on his lines as opposed to a team with 'A Best Fourth Line', a JT one man band and a rag tag group of forwards constantly being mixed and matched.

I like Chimera. He speaks his mind. Too bad if he keeps it up, they'll trade him in a month.
Bailey and Strome are awesome, though. |

Last night was only pre season, so I dont take it too seriously. However, the isles were going through the motions. I love listening to fans say things like "send him down, whats the rush". Garths had 10 years to build a winner, and yet people are preaching patience? At what point does this fall on management?
I hate to say this but watching PA on the first line was really a microcosm of whats wrong on this team......you get what you pay for. |

On the other hand the NYR went and traded for a top winger in Nash and their is ĉonstant criticism.
I watched the SNY Isles Preview show and Ladd said he came in o develop chemistry with JT and PA said he could play on any line.
Hopefully the team will play enough of a disciplined game to let the offensive talent and line chemistry develop which is more like an NHL team vs college hockey. |
