Imo, the questions for this year are basically the same as last year. Their defense and goaltending depth are by far the best they've had in a really long time. It'll really come down to Strome, Brock (to a lesser extent), and Lee to help out with the secondary scoring.
- NYI44

I agree. I not worried about the goalies or d. I'm worried about the guys you mentioned providing the secondary scoring and I'm very worried about the coaching. These are the issue you bring up with the Isles and not KO and Frans leaving.

PP needs to be better. 18/29/27 (in order of who needs to step up most) need to start playing like veterans and not confused, inconsistent kids.

Those are the two biggest things we need to see this season, in my opinion.

Wasn't really the point, I wasn't insinuating that they would. Just that they should.

Didn't think it was just wanted to make my own point.

Well in all seriousness there's some truth to that but that goes back to the taboo subject on this thread

Can't wait to see who is manning the point on the PP.

I picked him in our draft.

Thought for sure he would be a starter and PP time. Thought I got one over on chiefs

Figured Cappy wouldn't even be that (frank)ing dumb.

Seriously, you have Hamonic, Leddy, Boychuck, give a very very promising young defender a chance. You have a veteran presence all ready.

That was your first mistake. That's ok the vast majority on here make the same mistake every season. The level of stupidity is mind boggling isn't it? The real problem is it's not all Capuano this probably has more to do with Snow than anyone else. Two peas(morons) in a pod.

I thought Seidenberg wasn't a big deal signing, if he was the 7th d man, and only if Pulock got the start and maybe struggled

The problem is actually believing he would be used as a 7th defenseman. Remember Strait? Zidlicky?

Every year the same people, bloggers, Staple say great signing! He'll make an excellent 7th defenseman! Then they're in the starting line up and don't go away no matter how many times they diarrhea all over the ice. This has been going on since Capuano's first day behind the bench. The guy is incredibly stupid along with Snow. You'll never be able to wrap your head around it that's why everyone is "shocked" every season when it happens again. It literally happens every season

If this chimp is our coach next season (god for(frank)ingbid) him and Snow will do the same exact (frank)ing thing

Looking at what may be the opening line up, where is the toughness? Chimera? Ladd? I think they are gonna get pushed around worse this year, and I think it might be a problem. Thoughts?
- chazpet

Of all the guys on the team last year who stood up to Wilson????? None other than Thomas hickey so if he's not going to be intimidated then I wouldn't worry. He's small sometimes gets pushed around but I thought he was great in the playoffs he'll that hit on druin was the best of the post seasonpi

Never draft a young Islander player as long as Cappy is coach unless it's a #1 overall like JT. Cappy will frank with young players every time.

2 years ago dal colle had a good camp. Got sent back.
1 year ago barzal had good camp. Got sent back
This year its beau

Dont get caught up in rookie hype. Every year there is a new "needs to be on the roster" player

They wont see 10 NHL games. Theres no rush. Ita not like one is mcdavid, eichel level.

Unless there is a trade i just dont see them staying. But this could be good it could force the trade of strome nelson bailey ect. Its also good because no one gets the nino treatment

Dal colle and ho sang will be the first to step in incase of injury to forward group. Pelech and mayfield wil be first for defense

Pulock is on opening roster. Dehaan/hickey rotate with seidenburg

Relax this team will be okay.

Just dont read ESPN

Edit: who cares if they keep 3 goalies.? Its about. What ever is best for the team.

It was a great signing if the Isles package de Haan for the much needed forward or he is actually used as a 7th dman. If someone gets hurt or Pulock really struggles then fine.

Dal colle has not had a good camp yet. He's somewhat quicker now but it's still not NHL skating speed. I have no idea what you're talking about on this.

Huh? Where did this come from did anyone even bring up beau?
Also, I'll bet you Pulock will not be on the opening night roster and there's a zero percent chance Hickey and Dehaan will be rotating as the 7th defenseman

Edit; as far as who cares about the goalie rotation well the goalies do. Somethings got to give eventually Halak is going to say (frank) this and if you're ok with that I don't know what to say.

Not trying to be a Richard, but a lot of this is inaccurate.

Dal Colle never had a camp so strong that he was in contention to stick. That's not to say that he was bad, but he was never, ever close to sticking around.

Going purely off what Staple said, there's an extremely good chance that Pulock is not a starter on opening night.

There is a very real chance that one or both of Barzal and Beauvillier stick around. Maybe they only play their 9 (or less) games, but there's a good chance they stick around. Looking forward to watching both of them play tonight as this is their final chance to make it impossible for management to send them back to juniors.

Unrelated, to this conversation, some Staple tweets:

Arthur Staple @StapeNewsday
Capuano says still decisions to be made based off today's game. Pulock/Pelech played 5 of 7 games so far, didn't need to see them again.

Arthur Staple @StapeNewsday
Capuano said he likes the tempo his team has had in D zone exits so far. D and forwards moving puck quickly out of zone.

Arthur Staple @StapeNewsday
Cap on Barzal: Shift times were a problem first couple games. "He's around the veterans, he sees what you need to do. He's gotten better."

Arthur Staple @StapeNewsday
Lee trying RW today. #Isles have used Quine, Prince, Bailey, now Lee on off wing. Cap: "@titobeauvi21 said he's comfortable there too."

edit: "@titobeauvi21" is Beauvillier's twitter account, in case someone doesn't know who he was referring to

After some fact checking it was the prospect camp.

Basically what im saying is some.people on here get to hyped up over certain prospects when every year the hype changes to a new player.
