He got his defensive reputation the same way Okposo got his power forward label. From pre-draft projections furthered by "experts" who never actually watch them play more a handful of games. - PeteM
honestly thought this was just cause he is black, which again, could be because no one actually watched him
edit: he is still black |

*these are just opinions of what snow is thinking and not my personal view of josh bailey*
Bailey is holding a place until dal colle/ho sang or who ever plays well enough in the D zone to get a spot.
I believe if barzal/baeu/ prince/ quine out plays him in both zones he will be in the press box watching games with strome...he he doesnt step up
Bailey wont make it to the end of the contract but RIGHT NOW he is better than bernier, bulton, gionta and the other PTOs
Bailey is the safer defensive play over one of the rookies.
Again just my opinion of what snow is thinking.... |

Idk Yak traded for a conditional pick. I do that without even thinking about it I really don't give a shat about all of this "fwd depth" we have. |

Not even Quine. The guy St. Louis gave up played last season in the ECHL! So it was likely a 2nd and a C prospect. |

The pick is a conditional pick and as far as I'm reading it's a conditional 3rd. The condition is if he scores 15 or more goals so if he's not productive he's literally free
How does Snow not take a shot with this kid? |

I get the feeling that Chiareli does not want to give Snow anymore deals.
Also think he is just focused on upgrading his D so he paid the price for Larsson and dealt Yak to make room for Russell. |

I read it was a 3rd that improves to a 2nd if he scores 15 goals. Honestly feel we already have two of him in Quine and prince. |

I think he's going to drop 25 goals this year's playing in St. Louis. Is take Yak over Quine or Prince any day. |

I would have taken Yak on the cheap, but I rather have someone more proven at this point. We have the pieces to get someone a lot better than Yak.

That's my reading, too, cpt. I said "likely a 2nd", because I am figuring that Yak should be able to score at least 15 goals for St. Louis. I also agree that for that small price, he would have been worth a look playing next to JT. Worst case scenario, you've blown a 2nd round pick and a low level prospect. |

Anyone really want to get angry or at least wonder what the (frank) scott burnside is smoking then please read the following

He really never has good things to say about the Isles. Again if KO and Frans were so key then why only one playoff win in years? JT and Greiss got the Isles the playoff win and not KO and Frans. This KO and Frans worship is beyond old. |

This guy's superficial knowledge of the Isles is evidenced when he calls JT "one of the premier two-way centers in the game." JT is one of the premier offensive centers, and through hard work has improved his defense, but his two-way game is not yet at the level of a Toews, e.g. He also refers to Matt Martin as a cornerstone of the team.
Now I'm not predicting a Stanley Cup for the Isles, but I just don't see 6 teams in the Metropolitan Division finishing ahead of them. If nothing else, their D and their goal tending should get them into the playoffs. |

These so called hockey experts are just brutal. I love JT, but he is not even an average defender at this point. I also liked Matt Martin, but cornerstone is funny. KO and Frans had many years to show they are core guys and did not get it done. JT needed help against Tampa and they failed and they failed against a banged up Tampa team.
I'm also not predicting a Cup for the Isles. They have question marks. Six teams ahead of them is crazy though. |

[Ladd will] be a welcome addition to the Islanders' locker room, but it's a stretch to see him as a 30-goal guy.
As opposed to Okposo who has never scored 30 goals?
I wouldn't sweat stuff like this. This is part of the same crowd that couldn't even pronounce "Frans," or half of the Islanders' names for that matter, when they were on national broadcasts as recently as two or three years ago.
It's why I've always hated Brooks' Islanders articles, too. I'd be pissed about the way things were going and would totally want to get on the hate train when I saw a critical Brooks article...but then I'd read it and realize it comes about as close to hitting on the real issues as the old Mike and the Mad Dog Milbury interviews used to.

It's just sloppy work by so called hockey people. You want to go after the Isles then go after Cappy and his lousy coaching. Do not mention KO and Frans leaving and think that will sink the Isles. This was not a Cup team that just lost two key guys. If the Isles struggle it will be more to do with coaching than losing Frans and KO. |
