Oilers assign Griffin Reinhart to AHL Bakersfield.
He had a very poor camp. Still very much a debate whether he'll be an NHL player. |

Contract status (one way) probably had a good bit to do with it. But I still stand by the assessment that his skating isn't good enough to be a desirable everyday defenseman. |

But Barzal is a more offensive player -- his make-up is that of an offensive playmaker whereas Beauvillier is billed more as a jack-of-all trades. Based on the little I've seen of Barzal, I'd wager that if preseason went on for 25 games, Barzal would come out of it with not only more points, but also better point production among the players he's on the ice with. - UIF

Whats going on over there in Edmonton.......they're constantly looking for dman, yet they dont take a flyer on him?? He's prob more NHL ready than Reinhardt. |

Whether we agree on this or not......the fact remains, he's young and can develope into something. For a free look, im shocked that noone took him. Its gotta be more about the one way conny than his skating. |

If he cannot make the team now then when will he ever make it? How bad is Junior hockey if he was a lottery pick? |

The days of the big, mean stay-at-home defenseman that contributes nothing other than physical play are dead. One of the last remaining dinosaurs, Barrett Jackman, just retired and there aren't very many left.
Guys in today's NHL need to be smooth skating and able to advance the puck up the ice. They don't necessarily need to score, but they need to be able to be mobile and join the play. |

Left side of the Oilers' D is kinda packed. Klefbom, Sekera and Nurse are all ahead of him. If I were the Oil, I'd just cut the cord and try and salvage something for him in a trade. Hell, package him with Yakupov to facilitate that deal. |

I hear you......but its not like Edmonton is rife with skating dmen. Im not saying Mayfield is PP1 guy......but in his short stint playing for the isles he didnt look outta place.....like say Brian Strait. But what do i know.....he cleared waivers so anything i say means nothing. |

He is not going to get much at this point. Man did the Isles miss on this pick. They made up for it in trading him though. |

It happens. Luckily, they were able to correct their error big time. Wouldn't have had Barzal OR Beauvillier without that trade. |

One of Worst pick's of Garth's tenure... followed by one of his best trades moving him for Bouv. |

The Griffin Reinhart for a 1st and a 2nd from 2015 Draft isn't a very good look for the #Oilers. Mathew Barzal is a player. |

Not sure if that one trumps Pokka and a pile of rusty bed springs for Leddy...yet. |

They're probably going to put another forward at the point. A lot of teams do it so my issue isn't that they do it...it's that when it doesn't work they just continue to roll out the same thing over and over without trying to fix it. - eichiefs9
Generally speaking SOME teams put a fwd on the point either due to them not having a defenseman with a decent shot OR bcs that particular fwd has a helluva one timer(Stamkos comes to mind) or slapper. Neither okposo, nielsen, pap, or even Tavares has ever fit that description. Working it down low through opposing defenseman and 2 fwds to me never will make sense when you have a player like Lee in the paint. Hence why our pp is inconsistent and mediocre at best. In fact it's painful to watch more often than not. |

I don't love PA in any sense of the word, I just don't have a major problem with him being there.
Not a single Isles fan, other than Spariarti, believes that Bailey should be on this team so we're in lockstep on that one.
I'm not positive, but I wouldn't put a ton of stock into these line combos as gameday isn't until Sunday. I would look at the lines from a skate tomorrow or the morning skate on Sunday as more telling of exactly who is going to be playing Sunday and possibly sticking. - eichiefs9
We also know that throughout the year JT will have everyone on the roster at one time or another on the line with him. JAck switches lines pretty much every game and if they lines are clicking then he changes it even quicker to even out the scoring |

#Isles D pairs in drills: Leddy-Hamonic, Hickey-Boychuk, de Haan-Seidenberg, Pelech-Pulock. 3 goaltenders rotating.
I swear to god, if (frank)ing Seidenberg ends up playing all the time over HICKEY... - eichiefs9

Yeah and with that we have Quine and Prince along with PAP on the first line (sorry I don't share chiefs sentiment with that idea). Yakupov has the potential to be a legit top line player in that right situation. If he comes cheap I'd do it. - Cptmjl
This team can't seem to let go of the cheap scrubs they so often needed when FA's treated this destination like it was Molokai. It goes back to the early days of Garth's tenure when Wang wouldn't spend $$$—a lie they fed to us every year by saying, "If there's a way to improve this team, we WILL DO IT!"
Bridgeport is where you get players in an emergency or to fill an injury spot on the roster. Carrying signed one-way players is not the way to do it. This team is still run with a non-traditional mindset. Can't believe that Bailey still owns a roster spot. Screw his playoff goal and OT winner in pre-season. He's invisible rest of the time. Guarantee if they sent HIM to B'port, he'd clear waivers. No downside if he doesn't. |
