he gave up being a UFA, sure looks like it to me - jimbro83
The only way to rid themselves of Staal or Girardi, is if they eat a considerable amount of the contract at the deadline, to a team who needs an experienced depth dman. Of course would mean we are out of contention.
I had the unfortunate displeasure of going car (compacy SUV, if you want to be a d!ck about it) shopping with my GF over the summer. One guy at Ford literally tried this and thought that, apparently, we both had suffered severe brain trauma not long before we walked into that dealership. I don't remember the numbers so I'm just making them up.
Him: Well we can do 5 year financing and it comes out to $383/mo
Her: That's a little more than I was hoping to be paying
Him: Ok, let me go talk to my manager, hold on
(5 minutes goes by)
Him: Ok, so I got him to come down to 7 years, $273/mo
Me, finally: All you did was add two years to the financing to lower the monthly payment. It's literally the exact same price.

yeah it is the worst...I just had the pleasure of buying my first new car (for the wife) and it was both annoying and incredibly enjoyable. it was like watching a trainwreck seeing them try to pull all the standard moves (which are posted all over the internet, I mean, c'mon people!)

the only way to get rid of Girardi is to buy him out in June.
Staal's contract is buyout proof, he'll be a Ranger til the end

If you really want to (frank) with a salesman and make things akward, just say no and don't offer an explanation. Did that with my ex when car shopping.
"So we can put you in this car for $319 a month"
"No"
Akward silence
"Something wrong with the car"
"No"
Akward silence
This went on for about 5 minutes, the salesman came back out with his manager and took 2k off the car without us even having to ask for it.

She actually did end up buying the car from them. It was a younger kid and I beat him up long enough to get him to come down to where she wanted to be.
The rest of the places we went were putrid. Literally every single guy we dealt with would talk to me as if she wasn't there. When she told one dumbass that she wanted to go home, think about it and crunch some numbers he completely ignored her and looked at me and said "I thought you would have already talked to your GF about how much money she could spend". I started laughing and she started laying into him, it was cringeworthy but also hilarious. It was satisfying tossing his business card into his own garbage can on the way out.

Yeah I can see how that definitely gets them off their game.
Nothing was ever more satisfying than watching my father torture car salesmen. He's unbelievable at it and it's so painful but he has almost always come out on top, big time. He'd just go around to all the local(ish) dealerships of the same manufacturer and eventually pit all the salesmen against each other in a sales deathmatch of sorts.
Love Buch's response when asked why he didn't fight Del Zotto..."I couldn't understand what he was saying, so there was no reason to throw the gloves off."

Really liked what I saw from Nieves, his first pro season will be a factor on protecting Lindbergh next summer, after 4 years at Michigan I didn't see this at all
I want to see Girardi and Staal play 20 games before I'm sold on them being done, Girardi has not played poorly and Staal had some good moments, the biggest problem on D continues to be exiting the zone, if they improved there a lot of the time in their own zone would be cut down, first passes have been mostly turnovers and icings

Im not as high on Lindberg as others. I would package him in a second with someone to try and improve the blueline

Would have liked to see Gerbe stay for the 4th line. Guy can play any position, and is great on the PK. If there is an in game injury he can also move up in the line up.

Thought he had a pretty poopty game last night, but I was flipping it on and off.
