Anyone up for fantasy hockey?

So far there's just 2 of us, me and Gerbe, but I know there were a bunch of us that wanted to do that keeper league with Orgasm.

I'm thinking just a regular league, but I'm open to suggestions on format.

If anyone wants in post/pm me.

I'll post a few more times over the next few days so the most people see it. I'd like to get 10, but can make do with 8 if need be.

Between HBSL and the 17 team one i'm in, I could use a little more fantasy hockey.
I had messaged mental too so count me in.

I agree, I was saying the same thing just last week. Call him up sporadically throughout the season so you can gauge his progress.

I'll have to look it up, but since he's AHL eligible is he still considered a slide risk(the 9 game thing burning a year)? I thought only junior players were considered slide risks.

- Wetbandit1

Pretty sure that's only Junior players. AHL burns a year.

We could always start him in the NHL and then send him down if he doesn't cut it yet. Or the other way around where he goes to the AHL and comes up if he can work it. All about what we want to do.

Sending him to the Rochester starts his ELC

EA's NHL 17 simulation has Toronto making the playoffs with 91 points. Sabres end up with 85.

Bruins, Rangers, Red Wings also miss, as well as Anaheim with 77 points.

Apparently Edmonton is willing to give up Yakupov for a 3rd

I'd do that in a heartbeat!

If risking a pick on Vesey was worth it,
Then risking a 3rd rounder for the former #1 Overall pick is a no brainer imo

Agreed. What's the worst that could happen? He sucks and we lost a 3rd round pick. We have 2 3rd round picks this year, I would go for it.

The potential reward is he gets close to 20 goals. He's hit 17 before, only had 8 last year. Change of scenery might be what he needs.

So I agree with you two, but the minus would be he is -88 +/- for his NHL career. So losing games by being on the ice could be the negative. Also, who who's roll does he take on the team? Cause some players (Girgensons, Larsson) play penalty kill and that would shift that a bunch if you plan on moving another player with a special teams roll. Just saying

But he's also still junior eligible as well as AHL. I'll try and remember to look it up later.

And junior players can come up to the AHL after their season's are over and that doesn't burn a year. in 14-15, the year of his 9 game tryout, Reinhart played 3 games in Rochester in the same year he was in junior and was still junior eligible the next season(last season). So it doesn't automatically burn a year just by playing in the AHL.

NOT EVEN a third.

Pete Chiarelli tried to move Nail Yakupov leading up to the trade deadline,” recounted Dreger. “And I’m sure that he kicked a few tires at the draft in trying to move him again. There just isn’t – and hasn’t been to date, anyway – a market for him.

“Now, the Oilers would tell you that it’s not like they’re asking for an exorbitant or unrealistic return. It’s a draft pick. And it’s not a first, second – and at one point they were asking for a third, but it’s probably not even that anymore.

That difference is likely the fact that the junior season is over. Starting the year in the AHL will definitely burn a year on his contract. Example would be Girgensons.

Girgensons never played junior though. He was in the USHL, and was a Vermont commit.

Edit: Girgensons' contract did slide. That's why he was up this year and Grigorenko was up last year despite being drafted the same year.

And the thing is,
he actually has some been productive with Edmonton...
When he plays with good linemates

I don't envision a scenario next season where he wouldn't be with good linemates, since Nylander & Bailey, & maybe Fasching should all be up here

But like u said...
even if he's a bust, it's just a 3rd round pick that we lost out on

Ennis-ROR-Okposo
Kane-Eichel-Samsonite
Foligno-Larsson-Yak
Moulson-Girgensons-Gionta

It doesn't really do all that much, but you hope that maybe he turns it around and can play better in a new location and new system. It's a gamble and maybe it pays off. He still has offensive ability and there used to be a reason he went 1st overall.

I'm just saying for the price it would be worth the chance in my eyes. I don't expect it at all.

Capfriendly has him as a slide risk:

Ok, and AHL games do not count, so as long as he doesn't play 10 games he does not burn a year. Read the description at the top:

Pretty sure it doesn't matter
The end of the season thing is kind of a loophole,
But it only applies once the Junior season is over

Look at it like this...
Risto would've been Junior eligible his 1st year in Rochester as well but his ELC started right away too

Basically,
Once u start playing Pro, it kicks in

On the subject of Nylander, what do we expect from him this year and long term? He went 28-47-75 in 57 games in the OHL last year, his only year of NA hockey. Seems like he's had some decent tournaments as well. In Rochester would 20 goals be good or would that be underwhelming? Would 15 be good in the NHL or too few?
