"he's still a number one D man, and will be until his contract is up"--- quote from the Diary of Don Sweeney.

It makes me cringe whenever I read things like that. Are these people blind?? The amount of turnovers this guy makes is insane. He throws muffins up the middle then falls when the forward burns around him. I'd sooner have Morrow, Carlo, O'Gara in the lineup than Chara any day of the week

(frank)ing CSN does for the celtics. they even had the green/white game on TV. it'll never happen but the B's on CSN would be so much better than NESN.

I disagree. You ask any bruin who their role model is on this team and they say bergeron. Nobody would say chara. Also the fact that he's turning 40 this year, and bergeron will be the next captain, why delay the inevitable, especially when Chara is arguably our worst player
- TylerSeguin19

I 100% do not agree with you that no one would say Chara. He is still a good captain regardless if his play has declined.

It is also in his contract that he is the captain..... So the inevitable is when he retires.

Let the arguments begin! I think Rinaldo is just a smidgen worse than Z.
Removing the C won't make him better. Limiting his ice to 20 - 22 minutes per game will though. He's getting older, that's for certain but he's still an excellent defender with a great shot from the point. Remember he's been playing hurt for a while now. I bet he has a turn around season.
I'm more worried about our goalie.

Begin?!?! This argument's been raging on for quite some time now!

Personally I'm in the camp that Chara should have been brought out back and shot a long time ago.

He's not an excellent defender... he's a terrible defender. He has 0 speed, and his play along the boards is abysmal. He's playing hurt because his knee is damaged beyond repair. His knee is not going to get any better, if anything it's only going to get worse.

He should give up the C to Bergeron. The team under Chara's captaincy has poop their pants down the stretch for 2 seasons in a row. If that doesn't scream "change of leadership" then I don't know what does.

I bet the only guy that would say Chara is Bergeron... everyone else would say Bergeron.

And what makes him a good captain? Where does this come from? What from the past 2 seasons has shown you that he's a good captain. Because I've seen a team that's lacked a good captain for the past 2 seasons.

Ditto... if they're going to be bad on D (and we all know they are), then I'd rather see the younger guys get some playing time, and be able to develop at the NHL level.

What's the point of keeping Chara in there if they're just going to miss the playoffs by 2 points again. If we're not going to compete, then get the young guys in there and see what happens. At least if it doesn't work out, we'll know that we need to find more defensive help, and we'll probably get a better pick out of it.

With Chara in there, all we know is more of the same.

I'm willing to bet Ehrhoff will get signed and the younger guys will ride the press box again. Julien is probably creaming his pants over his veteran D this year.

Chara - JML
Krug - Ehrhoff
McQuaid - K. miller

Mix and match them all. No matter how you look at it, it still leaves a bad taste in ones mouth.

Yeah I was hoping they would bring him in on a PTO...

I'm still preaching Nakladal... he just wouldn't be the top pairing that we need.
