opposite, Edwin is going to sign fat cash in Boston to replace Ortiz, and Jays will sign Bautista to move into the DH role since his arm is getting worse and worse
- DDM-Coga

Encarnacion will be a cheaper signing IMO.

If they aren't asking that much for him, then we should have him! I know he isn't a top pairing guy, but he is a top 4, and a good PP quarterback. You can't have enough top 4 defensemen. I would trade Fasching in a second!!!

I guess my only concern would be making sure we don't just lose him after this year - isn't his contract up?

Can't keep trading all the young guys. The cupboards aren't bare yet, but they're not exactly overflowing either. I wouldn't trade Fasching that quick. I think he's developed really nicely, and I think the game last night showed that.

Although I agree with you, you have to give up to get.

I would be more worried with the Vegas draft after this year and keeping all the players we want (not losing a guy like Fowler for not being able to protect).

I think our D core needs help, especially with the injuries to Bogo and Kulikov recently.

I have a feeling both will be playing by the start of the season. We need to be patient in evaluating our defense.

I've said it once and i'll say it again...re-evaluate the defense at the trade deadline if we are in contention for the cup..if not, re-evaluate after the season.

Correct, we have to be careful what we do from here on out. Getting Risto signed should be the only concern as of now. This is a make or break year for Girgensons from what I was told so moving him now isn't what they are thinking about.

That is true you have to give to get but, you can't keep selling off players for a guy who has 1 year left on his deal. What they want to move other teams are nervous as of now to make a deal.

I don't think they are a tire fire, but are not top 10 D either. So I think to win a cup we want to be in top 10 (maybe top 5), so that is what I am saying.

I don't think we have the team to win the cup this year, even though I want that team, I am not sure you can get it there for this year specifically. Moving forward, we do want that, but making a trade for a D man to only see him be gone at the end of the year is not the right move either. Staying the course (developing young talent) should get us where we want to be for many years to come.

I dont blame other teams. We are moving parts that we dont want, they should be nervous. We are nervous Ennis wont come back to form too, so why should they not be nervous too?

Didn't take long for Bobby Ryan to end up in the dog house again with another coach, guy isn't worth 7 mill a year.

I guess his laziness got him in hot water yet again along with another player.

Nylander has definitely had his chances to show what he has. I don't think he's been bad at all, just don't think he's been great either. Still looks like Rochester bound to me. Not a knock on him at all, just think it's the best place to develop his game and grow. If he plays well down there he can easily be called up.

Fasching should stay in the NHL. He's looked strong on the puck and has been in good position from what I've seen. I'm a Bailey fan but unless he shows something over Fasching tonight I think I'd start Fasching on the 3rd line over Bailey at this point.

63-90-21
9-15-23
26-28-52
82-22-12

Could also do a line of Foligno-Girgensons-Fasching which would be a tough line that could also put up some points. That'd leave 26-22-12 which could be a decent line if Larsson plays like he can and Moulson keeps doing what he did this preseason.

63 should not be on the first line and I don't think you're going to see 12 on the 4th.

I think you see Fasching end up in Rochester to start the year. Mostly because I think he'd be better served to play there on the top lines than to be here on the 4th at this point in his career. You'd probably see Gionta on the 3rd, DLo on the 4th and Grant as the guy in the pressbox most nights.

I'm glad the Jays won, but I do like the Orioles too. I'm disappointed Bautista didn't do Bat Flip II: The Electric Boogaloo. I know it was early in the game, but still.
