Gorges goes from our 2 to a 5-6. We may have a real 2, and even if we don't he's better than Gorges. Bogo remains at 3. McCabe (with a year more experience) remains at 4. No matter who you pair with Gorges, they will be better than PissBoy and Weber, or PissBoy and Franson, or any other combination we ran back there last year. SUMMARY: We're going to remain steady or improve at every single position in the defense.

First, based upon the reports of his sustained and dedicated off season conditioning, I don't believe he's going to suffer the catastrophic injury he has in the last two years. So, its not some (frank)ing bizzaro world that I live in, its an extrapolation if what I have seen in historical performances of the individuals on this team, and why they are better suited - AS A GROUP - for even better performances this year.

Yes, the data from the last two years suggest we will suck if we do the same as we have in the last two years. But nothing about developments in the franchise suggests that we are going to do the same as we did. There are SO MANY improvements at SO MANY positions. ROOT NOW, we're going to be good NOW. I don't need to be shown it, I already believe it.

Love the optimism! I too believe they have improved, including on the back-end. However, I am concerned about our defensive depth when the inevitable injuries occur. I still think we are a 90 point team and we are in the 8 - 10 range in the East. That's a pretty good improvement in 2 years from where they were sitting.

While I hope for the best (playoffs) this year, my expectation is next year is when we really push aggressively for the playoffs. Next year's team won't have on it Franson, Gionta, Moulson and a few other deadweights. Removing them alone plus the development of Samson, Jack, Risto, McCabe, Nylander, Bailey etc alone should push us into the playoffs. However, I hope I am wrong and they make a strong push and they make it this year.

Honestly I like all of these lines. That top line is going to be fun to watch, the 2nd line has Ennis on LW which is good to get him going there, and that 3rd line is going to be a pain in the ass. If we could have all 3 of those lines, move them all down, and then insert Kane-ROR-Okposo that's my best lineup for the start of the season.

Of course, that would exclude Gionta and Moulson so it won't come to be.

I feel Moulson will have a better year, and Gionta played fine last year. The only thing wrong with Gio is he can't play those long minutes but that's on Dan, not him.
