Well they probably match that. 6 mil and it starts to become questionable. And it's only a second round pick more. - prock
If trouba truly wants out, an offer sheet isa risky way to do it. |

Personally, I'd look to either BUF or NJ. Shero LOVES loading up dmen and you win a trade with them. You guys don't NEED a Trouba on your team, you need stability. You're a team of the future and I would think along those lines toward continuing to build.
I'd look at NJ and try to get John Moore, a 2017 1st rounder and maybe their 1st round pick from 2016. - Rinosaur
If Winnipeg makes it: Moore, 2017 1st (with protection for it we miss the playoffs and win the lottery), and guy with drafted with our 2014 1st round pick all for Trouba; I think we would have a deal! |

Doesn't a players NMC/NTC go bye-bye once they accept a trade or does it restart on the new team? - Rinosaur
No, it's a part of the contract. They can nix any trade for the length of the contract, no matter who it's with (assuming the NTC/NMC is for the entire length of the contract). |

Meh, he gets the salary he wants, and Winnipeg is stuck with a malcontent for one year, at which point they probably are forced to trade him. |

LOL. I don't think WPG takes that deal. Your 2014 1st isn't exactly much.

Ah ok. For some reason I thought otherwise.
Either way, I don't think MAF makes sense as part of the deal.
Maatta & Fehr for Trouba makes more sense if that really makes sense at all for either side. |

not acurate, look into how the salary is broken down in an offer sheet. It is total salary dived by 5, not the length of the deal, or something like that? My point being is the compensation going back to Winnipeg would be more than what your specualting. |

except the Jets cut Fehr so not sure why they would want him back, we already have plenty of competition on our bottom 6

Yeah I've seen others say the same thing. It's literally a clause, in a player's contract, that says they can't be traded without the players permission. When you trade for a player, the contract comes with them, in it's entirety. They're essentially taking over that contract.
I've seen people also think that a player waives his NTC, and the team can then trade them anywhere. The player has a trade proposed to them, and they can choose to excercise the clause or not. It's their choice. So they can pick and choose which trades they accept.
It gives the player a lot of power on where they play, for the entire duration of their contract. |

so 6 milliion at 5 years. Hell, 6 million at 6 years still falls under the 7.5 needed before it goes to more firsts.
They're still locking him up for the majority of his prime playing years, and most likely past that with extensions. |

The only exception I know of is if you are traded before your ntc kicks in – the acquiring team can choose to honor the clause or not.
e.g. Nashville had the choice to honor pk subban’s trade clause or not. |

11.8 Individually Negotiated Limitations on Player Movement. (a) …. If the Player is Traded or claimed on Waivers prior to the no-Trade or no-move clause taking effect, the clause does not bind the acquiring Club. An acquiring Club may agree to continue to be bound by the no-Trade or no-move clause |

NMC/NTC do not automatically transfer when a player is traded, it's up to the team aquiring the player, so usually they do not. Myers had a no move before being traded to Winnipeg, they did not carry it on when he came over

and the Jets would easily match that. it's when you start doing 6.5 million for 7 or 8 years, then you get into the 4 first rounder range |
