Our defense is fine, now and in the future. Trading Tanev makes no sense unless it's for a young top 6 forward

Cap space lookin great in 2017-18

About time. We've been hearing about how awesome he is for years. Who did we trade for him again?

I didn't watch the game just the highlights. Wonder if labatte will be suspended the league loves to use the canucks in a bad way, wasn't the hit dangerous and predatory need to get that out of the game, meanwhile it happens everynight elsewhere and not a peep.

I like a suggested defense of

Edler-Stetcher

Well, at least it would be exciting with at least 837 breakaways-against each game...

I think edler has a good year if he stays healthy, he had a good pain free off season of training something he hasn't had for years.

Is that before or after the Sedins resign for a couple years?
- WhatTheNuck

Miller n Burrows gone is $10.5m
Sedin would prolly sign at a home town discount less than the $7m
EG needs a raise
Bo n Hutton get a bridge deal with Tree getting a modest deal
Overall lots of cap space to play with

Why? banging wingers are a dime a dozen, solid top 2 dmen are much harder to find and there worth more.

A top 6 forward can happen when the timing is right IMO.
Cap space allows more creativity.
Expansion draft coming will offer up oppurtunity so we can be patient.
Eriksson is already an upgrade from Vrbata.
Sven a year older is better.
Toss in Rodin for more depth than last hear.
Thats more probable offense than last years edition.
Next draft we r going for C & W most assuredly.
Trouba over Tanev offers more offense upside.

Just my outlook this season & 2-3 yrs ahead

I just dont see how going from Tanev to Trouba improves us more than a center. Its nothing against Trouba.

Trading Tanev may be better done after the expansion draft as the only 3 defense we need to protect are edler/tanev/guddy. all others are exempt or who cares. If we trade Tanev for a forward, that is 1 less we can protect in the upcoming draft. Tanev for Trouba makes a lot of sense for us as we can easily still protect and Trouba has a much better upside as a complete defenseman. Guddy can handle the shut down roll. He played if successfully for a much better Florida team.

When Sedins contracts expire, BC boy Kyle Turris is a UFA

I dunno man. Dubois is french for some wood. Many busts are carved from wood.

Therefore Dubois=bust

He has much more offensive upside, and has played well defensively. WPG has also been playing him on his off wing, he would likely have a spike on his natural side of play.

If those deals wer possible I would do it, but I think it is a bit of an overpayment by a 3rd for Trouba. Tanev + Etem and maybe a 5th.
- Retinalz

I think the Jets lose out big time in that deal.
