Sign Gilmore. CB is much more valuable than WR in this league.

Of the seven positional units in football, WR is the least valuable (maybe second last to RB). Get a legit QB, and plug in anyone you want at WR.

CB is important to counter the most important position on the field.

- rmiethaner

No doubting the positional importance. Are you willing to pay Gilmore, on this team for $15m (that they won't have when TT's contract kicks in).
That was my central point, coupled with trying to resolve a need at WR, and lastly they will likely be able to draft a replacement in either the 1st or 2nd round (should be drafting top 10).
Your position points are valid, it is the specific senairio I'm thinking of.

To be honest, I have never took the time to understand the NFL salary cap.

So you probably have a very valid question and would know better than I.

Wow. I don't think anyone called that - a Bills shutout of the Pats in Foxboro. 14 - 2 is still do-able.....

Well, good to see they won, And TT was throwing over the middle, a lot. I think A Lynn has a brain in his head, at least the last two games the O has looked better...playing to their strengths and getting their playmakers involved much more...all good signs.

Now watch what the Pats do when Brady comes back...I'm predicting they go 13-3 or 14-2. Brady will be hell bent to run scores up like crazy!

Isn't there a lot of uncertainty as to who will be the starter for the Isles (Greiss or Halak)

Scratch that, James Wisniewski has been released from his PTO by Tampa Bay.
Fortunately, there's 28 other teams who could probably use the talented defender. The trick is finding the right one. If he's healthy, it won't take long. Stay tuned.

Wisniewski is another defender who would immediately become the 2nd best one on this team if he were signed. The question is all about term.

He's a right hander and he's 32.

We can do better.

Agreed. We need much better if we're going to be "good" this year.

We need much better than Kulikov IMO.

We have good depth players on D. Only 1 guy remotely capable of having a big effect on winning

Solid. Goalies are iffy, but you know that. And crucially you got 2 great RW which is always the hardest position to find quality at. O'Reilly is still listed as a C,LW? That's nice.

I will when they end up comfortably in the playoffs this year. That, to me, is the minimum standard of being considered "good".

You spend a hell of a lot of time on here for something that's don"unacceptable".

You're one of those people who will be better off not having children. When phrases like "I'll start enjoying myself when they reach a point I determine to be a minimally acceptable standard," that's a guaranteed bad outcome.

Come on. Your're comparing family, kids, lives. etc..to a recreational hobby?

Stop. You're better than that.

I'm teetering. Half of me thinks we are a solid playoff caliber team (Not contender), and half of me thinks we screwed up this rebuild, and have a mediocre prospect pool, already limited cap room, and not a team on a trajectory to win a cup.

I love our forwards, loathe our blue line outside of Risto and McCabe

That's pretty much where I'm at. This defense corps is what will end up being the reason they don't make the postseason this year.

I think it will be because of the bottom six. I would have no problem with Reinhart playing 3C to get three lines that can score.

IMO, it is not a playoff team, yet.

There are 30 teams in this league. More than half of them qualify for the postseason. I am not going to apologize for holding them to the mediocre standard of being in that greater than 50%, regardless of the supposed foretelling of my future parental abilities, of which there is no correlation whatsoever.

I just wish this GM would have waited. I mean, he severely downgraded the potential of this blue line over the past 3 years, to add Hudson Fasching, Ryan O'Reilly, and Kane, who by all accounts is on borrowed time as is.

Not sure I agree with this.

O'Reilly is well worth the price it took to acquire him.

Myers needed a change of scenery.

I'll grant you McNabb. He was a keeper.

Sure, O'Reilly was worth it. He also wasn't a must have player.

Murray has built this team with players he likes, not necessarily players at the right cost, or fit.

We will see if it works out
