Connor Hellebuyck. The guy who's main rival in the AHL was Matt Murray. I hear that guy is doing okay nowadays, so I'm not worried about Helly. Especially considering the Jets D is better than the Pens.

The Jets D is not better than the Pens. All stats show this.

Pens had a better team GAA, SV% and allowed lower shots-against.

That being said, I think Hellebuyck is going to be one of the best goalies in the league.

On the whole? Yes. But individually, no. Letang is the best of the whole group, but the Jets top 3 (Buff, Toby, and Myers. Excluding Trouba here) is better than everyone behind Letang. Pens have way better depth, though.

Edit: I should also point out that I fully expect the Jets defence to jump back in to the top 10, whereas the Pens blue line was thrown together with other teams castoffs and started to mesh just in time to roll through the playoffs. They could very well fall back to earth this season. Have a feeling Murray won't let that happen, though.

Maatta, Daley & Dumoulin are very very good Dmen. Are they as good as the Jets? Not sure.

Now if the Pens F are attacking & defending like they did most of the 2nd half of last season, not sure there will be any fall. In fact Maatta played injured, Dumo had his first full season so I expect the D to be even better than last season!

Looks like we both have something to look forward to on the blue line.
