Its not even arguing. Lmao. Guys like that find something to.complain about in everything.
The islanders could go 81-1 and he would complain about the line up in the one loss - Flexingtheshaft
Absolutely! I don't know if mommy didn't hug them enough when they were young or what, but the constant prattling on, repeating the same thing over & over & over........
It's just grating. Listen, if I spout off an opinion, it's an opinion. If Staple or someone within the organization says something about a player, I'm going to be inclined to listen to them. Or if everyone else in here is rebuking my opinion, it would make rethink my position. If everyone is, essentially, united against my thought, then maybe there's something I don't know or don't see. I don't know how many times people told "George" that it's training camp. I think you'd agree that after maybe 2 or 3 times being told that, you & I would basically say 'ok, it's training camp' and drop it. |

Right? Oh, no, wait. That didn't mean that you're right.

No Staple re-tweeted somebody who covers the Capitals and he had both rosters for each team. Not sure who is playing with who |

Like I said I'm not giving up on him and I actually like him but I do think his skating is holding him back a little. Which isn't a terrible thing a lot of young players have flaws to work on - Vukota
In the games Mayfield's been in, he's made some mistakes...bad ones even. Mostly it's misjudging an opponent's speed and not playing the angle correctly. Skating's part of that, but so is adjusting to the speed of the NHL, and that's something that won't magically solve itself by burying him and never giving him experience.
I think he's gotta sink or swim at this point. Throw him in there. If he doesn't cut it, then waive him. He's 24 now. I don't think by putting him in the AHL again he'll all of a sudden transform into Bret Hedican (I know you're not saying that...I just like to exaggerate when I'm making a point...bear with me). I think doing that will just lead to this same discussion at the start of next season with no clearer answer. |

Who are you going to play him over? He can't crack their top 6 and if healthy Seidenberg is better then Mayfield so you can say he is #8 on the depth chart. That's not even including Pelech. I just don't think there is a spot for him on this team. Either trade him or try to sneak him down on waivers and let him play down in BP |

Yup if theres no room for him put him in as part of a package. Speaking of which would we include barzal in a package for gaudraeu of kucherov? I think youd have to |

(Bold) That's the big problem. He needs to work on his feet. He'll never have the speed of Grabner, we know this. But he needs to work on it.
If you play in the NHL, who are you sitting? Dehaan, Hickey, Pulock? Are you going to throw him out there for 10 -15 minutes a game every seventh game? Send him down, let him work on his footwork. I don't disagree with your point. I get it. The only way to gain experience is to experience. But if you send him down, he can chew up big minutes, and still work on his skating without being a liability and getting exploited. |

I think you package either Mayfield or Dehaan, Nelson or Strome & a pick ( 2players & a pick). That'll fetch you a pretty good winger for JT. The pick would depend on who's being offered. I wouldn't put Barzal as part of a package. Dal Colle, maybe. |

Well, for one, maybe they shouldn't always sign washed up vets for depth because the "kids" don't have experience...which then prevents those same younger players from actually getting experience. Is Mayfield still going to be an "inexperienced kid" at 26? 27? At some point, fish or cut bait. Answer the question of whether one or two of these guys could play instead of making it an endless philosophical debate.
Last season probably would have been the perfect time to get Pulock and Mayfield real minutes. Instead, we needed to watch Strait and Zidlicky be stat anchors for whoever was unlucky enough to be paired with them. I know that's treading over old ground, but let's face it, it made little sense.
I'm not so sure Seidenberg's going to be a better option. Normally? Absolutely he would be. But didn't he have like spine surgery or something last season? Back problems usually don't just vanish after surgery, and a bad back can make you a lot less eager and able to play a physical game. One thing I do know is that if he's able to put skates on, Cappy will play him over Mayfield 10 times out of 10 no matter who earns what.
To actually answer your question, though, I think he should be cycled into games with Pulock. Don't have a "top six"...in games where you need more physicality, play Mayfield. Where there's some more room, play Pulock. See who's handling it better after 25 games or so. |

Just a little digression here. How cool is it that the conversation is who should be the 7th/8th D-man & when does he get to gain experience? If this was ±10 years ago, it would've been something like '...so after Mayfield as the 4th, who is the bottom pairing?'.
Cappy will definitely play him over Mayfield. I will agree that Mayfield should have been played last year. I would have rather seen a German Sheppard out there instead of Strait. Personally, I think there is a trade brewing. I've been saying it all summer. Think there'll be a trade right before the season. A cap-hell team needing to dump.
