Chris Tanev is on Vancouver and they are terrible, so I don't expect him to get very much credit yet, but give it a year or two, he'll be a household name.

Also there is no use in posting his stats because that proves nothing, because measuring stuff is ridiculous in comparison to any kind of strawman.

You can post all the stats you want. There are a LOT of stats, and they're open to interpretation. You're welcome to interpret them to say Tanev is the best defensive dman in the league, if you so choose. That does not make it fact. You can reference your little group of advanced stats guys who may think similar things. Doesn't make it fact either.

Again, you seem to take Team relative stats, i.e. how a player performs relative to his team, as the gold standard. You continuously ignore that team relative stats are not a level playing field, like you seem to think.

I don't think he has any real beliefs, he just says what gets him the most benefit. And he rags on Hillary for being a politician. Yet he's probably the most political person since LBJ. Just because he wasn't in government doesn't mean he's not a politician.

It seems as though you're giving him the benefit of the doubt as playing a character. While I think those insults, bluster and Ill prepared off the cuff remarks are exactly who he is . It's him responding and bloviating with his base instincts.

IMO, those numerous ghastly and scary traits of his aren't a caricature at all. His bitter narcissism is right out of an effin textbook.
And many of those traits Can be referenced back years and years. Albeit in the semi public eye, whIch is kind of the point you're trying to make .

No he doesn't. He uses and chooses stats and invents his own formula for looking at players. Any comprehensive and complete evaluation of players, would rank Doughty much higher.

Tanev is underrated AF defensively. He's elite on that side of the puck, it's just too bad he sucks offensively.
