on Pirri - I think you have to keep this kid on the team if not solely for his use on the PP.
on the 4th line C competition - I think it comes down to Hrivik, Lap, and Pirri. Jooris' injury has essentially taken him out of contention.
on the D - I think Skjei is a lock to make the team. that leaves the 6th/7th spot. from last night.... I would rather have Holden play then McIlrath. I love what McIlrath brings, but the problem I have is his positioning. I still don't see that he has that part down and in our system that is crucial. I think McIlrath will play the 7th spot and fill in when one of the vets are tired.
I have no idea what AV will do, but boy do I love this teams depth right now. Vesey N Buch look like everything they were promised to be. - richardson30
I would try...I repeat...try...going to repeat again...try McIlrath on the right side with McD. If the Rangers go back to their zoned defense and not chase people around the net and into the corners to leave the area between the dots open for anyone to skate into, I think McIlrath could fill in nicely there. Will it work? Don't know until you push the kid with a top pairing and not a bottom-six guy. Remember, Leetch's partner wasn't the quickest skater either...irony does have a way with things...
Just an idea to really test McIlrath. After all, he played pretty well with Yandle last season.

I wouldn't mind giving him a shot with McD, only problem is I think AV hates the guy. he specifically said he wants a Dman who has good position, makes good plays with the puck, and skates well... I don't know if that describes McIlrath very well. Holden on the other hand fits that very well.
At this point, if McIlrath doesn't start, I think they need to trade him. we have Graves coming up, Shatty signing next year( ), and Clendening looked pretty good.

McIlrath has played really well. He has since last year. Let the kid play!
remember how much everyone hated Mike Sullivan? - jimbro83
I had no problem with Mike Sullivan, Torts is such a polarizing figure, you hardly knew he was there. Arniel just looks like he would be a wisea$$, don't know him, I could be dead wrong.
no idea. the PP hasn't looked great the past few years. I suppose the only good thing he has done is the breakout plays off the faceoff. we were pretty good at that last year.
Still with four goalies in camp and what seems like way too many guys competing for a spot on defense. Think a goalie + d-man package trade may happen? Skapski just did two in a row. Hmmm...

I think Skapski is legitimately challenging Raanta for the backup position. But Skapski is so young that he'd be better served playing as the starter in Hartford.
On a side note, after Halverson's ridiculously good year after the draft, he seems to have tapered off a lot. Maybe this kid isn't as good as that years stat line said.
