Seriously, who cares about the world cup of hockey? The Olympics is where it's at.

Ek is a Flyers fan so he just doesn't like Crosby. Crosby was the unanimous choice. He was simply dominant the entire tournament. Marchand had a few goals but Crosby took over this tournament.

To be fair, Crosby never performs in the playoffs or in international tournaments.

if by a few goals you mean he led the entire tournament and had the tournament winning goal you're absolutely right.

I care about NHL hockey, Olympic Hockey, and leagues based on each country. The World Cup of Hockey is a half-assed way to make some money and create hype before the regular season. In addition, it is especially idiotic to put players (and their teams) health in jeopardy for this event right before the season starts. (Yes the same goes for the olympics, but it is a more glorified event)

Without the world cup of hockey, all these bloggers would be pulling teeth to make BS lies on trades and rumors, which in itself is tabloid nonsense equivalent to gossip magazines. Seriously, just wait a few days until it happens. Patience is key. There's my rant for today

Yikes, don't get so defensive!

Crosby was a levels above everyone else at this tournament. Marchand, Price, Doughty and a few others had great tournaments too. But Crosby stood out above the rest.

You don't have to care about anything, but the Olympics is universally regarded as the pinnacle of international sports competition and, as long as NHL players are still playing in it, that rings true for hockey as well.

Doesn't necessarily mean the World Cup has to be considered trash, but it's not the Olympics.

not defensive was being more snarky than anything else. but to say yeah he had a few goals doesn't do him justice. and Crosby was amazing.

What does lawn darts have to do with this.

Jokes aside, yes the World Cup is the pinnacle of international soccer, but I don't think the Olympics is that far behind. Certainly not as far behind as the World Cup of Hockey is to Olympic hockey.

my perfect scenario has the world cup of hockey on the same level as WC soccer. and send the world junior types to the olympics in south korea and china.

i also think that you'll notice a decline in the olympics as more and more WOC corruption comes to light.

I don't even like Crosby and I thought he was a no-brainer choice for MVP. He was the driving force of that line...how many goals does Marchand get without Crosby on his line? As for Price, he played great, but the situation makes it too hard for me to give it to him. Especially in the Finals, but overall Canada was playing a defense-first opponent...the guy who figures out how to score against that opponent is more valuable than the goalie who stops that opponent.

As for the penalties at the end I thought they were both correct calls...

Kopitar had his right arm wrapped around Perry, that was a pretty clear one to me

Doughty's high-stick was right after he played the puck, but it was one-handed...not sure if there's an official rule on that, but IMO if you take a hand off it's not a follow through anymore.

This is the dream in my opinion. I think going back to an amateur based Olympics would be really fun, and then having a World Cup that was actually every country's best competing would be awesome.

I thought Doughty was the worst D-man on the ice last night. He didn't look good at all.

I had more fun watching Team NA than any other team in the tournament, I don't give a poop what the teams are if it's fun to watch.
