This is not entirely true. While the standard "light beers" are definitely weaker cousins compared to the beers back home, Americans are super into IPAs these days. Some of these are quite dangerous, so they've taken to giving them very mean names. Secret to drinking in America and still getting drunk but not feeling like you're going to die: order IPAs from local breweries, but avoid the ones with the mean names. Mean name IPAs always make you feel sick.
