Think of it this way. They had the ability to evaluate Matthews during the WCOH and there are what 30/40+? guys they still need to make decisions on. I personally think its more of a workout time for regulars who weren't in the WCOH and then a long look at roster bubble guys.

But we usually dont see anything close to the final line up until game 4.
Let the players who will most likely not wear a leaf jersey this year play.
