Pre season games are sloppy. May be better this year because of the World Cup. I remember even the first regular season game a few years ago against the habs. Players were missing passes all game.

That was a horrific game. Obviously pre season but Sabres and Leafs are a long long way from being a good NHL team.

He's vanilla. He's not particularly spectacular or memorable, but compared to the buckets of poop that Rogers/NBC/ESPN force you to consume, he's relatively harmless - he doesn't add much but he doesn't detract from the show either.

Agreed. The leafs had about 4 Maybe 5 players that will be a regular. Only 3 that are for sure.

I am dropping Stamkos further and further down my Yahoo pre draft list.

Goalie was a major need. Bigger than the need for D. We had nobody in our system at all ready to be a starting goalie other than Bernier who was part of the old regime and not the right fit. Can't say the same at all about D. We have guys with potential. As for the giving up assets that won't hurt us...that won't get you Trouba or any other top dman. On top of that we'd have to cater to his.ice time and contract demands..no thanks. This new regime doesn't need that type of personality. Until we see what we have in our system there is no point in going out to get something new. We might have top 4 dman within the ranks but the only way to know is to play them. Especially with Babcock as their coach. We're also very week and unproven on the wings. Not sure why this gets no mention. Stand pat. Let's develop what we have then go shopping. Keep JVR until the youth steps up. There is no rush. This team isn't on the verge of anything.

I'm not that high on keeping jvr long-term, so i think he's expendable.

But perfectly reasonable to go down the path you outlined.
