Trading Myers doesn't change things a lot.....we would still need a good LHD and Myers would not likely net as good a return as Trouba.

Myers could get a top 4 LHD in return. His contract is very cap friendly for a top 4 defenseman. There is lots of value in having that..

I just do not see there being a deal available that gives a equal return for Trouba which is why I would try to keep him if he is truthful in his statement that he does not have an issue with Winnipeg but simply wants to be on the right side.

The Kings need a young stud on the right side to play plenty of minutes (voynov replacement) and they love trading picks and prospects they also have a good amount of quality LHD

I'd do deal for Myers or Trouba

Myers is not going anywhere. If Jets do a deal with LA, Muzzin better be a part of the package coming back!

Trouba is by far the best Dman available (unless the Ducks move Lindholm, but that would be insanity).

Trouba is to Fowler as Karlsson to Phaneuf - that's a huge gap and any sane person would launch themselves at the chance to get Trouba for Fowler.

You do however make a good point about the ducks and the expansion draft. Still, I think people are underrating Trouba - he's a future top 10 NHL dman.

I highly doubt that.

He barely cracks the top 10 dmen under the age of 25. To be a top 10 dman eventually, he’d have to pass all of the following dmen who are under the age of 25.
Ekblad
Ristolainen
Rielly
Lindholm
Klingberg
Parayko
Hanifin

And assume that the likes of Doughty, OEL, Hedman, Subban, Josi, Faulk, Hamonic, all still in their mid-20s, fall off fast enough (with no top dman coming into the top 10), for him to break top 10. I’m sure there are more I’ve missed. Where does Seth Jones fit?

And assume that he doesn’t get passed by the likes of:
Zadorov
Provorov
Juolevi I guess (not a fan)
Klefbom
Among others in the coming drafts.

I don’t think he’s shown enough to say he projects to be a a top 10 NHL dman. Not even close. I’d say number 1 dman is 50/50 at this point.

I think a lot of people are still caught up in the hype from 3-4 years ago.
