You don't think he can beat out 2 of Read, Lyubinov, and Vandevelde? - jmatchett383
I would say Vandevelde right now is on the outside looking in. I liked Lyubinov's speed and he plays the same game as Vandevelde. Might be able to produce more. |

Offensively the Flyers really only lack a top 6 winger. They have an abundance of bottom 6 guys. I wasnt very keen on the Gordon signing (Im still not), but it seems as though his spot is pretty safe because he wins faceoffs.
If I were in charge I would probably go with this:
Schenn-G-Voracek
TK-Couts-Simmer
Laughton-Cousins-Raffl/Read
Raffl/Read-Bellemare-Weiss |

I think he can beat them out, but I think he preferably plays top line minutes in the AHL |

No can do he's 19 and born in March. It's Sarnia or Philly this year. |

Laughton, not Konecny
And can we please not refer to Konecny as "TK?" It makes me think of Tyler Kennedy. |

I think if Konecny is on the team, Laughton is not - YuenglingJagr
Agreed. That may be the one roster spot open to Konecny

I still think he gets moved this year. If Cousins continues to play well in the middle I think it bumps Laughton as a trade piece or he could get bumped by a more natural winger.
But you never know. maybe a move to the wing helps laughton kind of how it has helped Schenn become a solid player. - J35Bacher
what kind of return will you get for laughton though? |

I dont think Laughton gets moved. I dont think he should. Only way I see him getting moved is in an expansion draft scenario...lots of moving parts there |

The thing with Konecny is that he has to outplay the top 6 to get a roster spot if you are trying to get in Hexy's/Hack's head
So basically its to knock Simmonds, Schenn, Voracek, or Laughton(?)/Raffl out of one of the top 6 wing spots.
The next question is can he fulfill a bottom six role as the player he is? There is no doubt he is a skilled kid, and more skilled than any of those bottom six we have. But is he suited for that role?
I am willing to say yes, get him on the team and let it work itself out. I have no problem with him taking a roster spot from Chris Vandevelde. Vandevelde can be replaced in his role by any number of players, Bellamare, Laughton, Gordon, Wiese, Read, Cousins..... - MBFlyerfan
Why can't Konecny be on a 3rd line? We just saw the Stanley Cup winner ice a 3rd line with Kessel on it. It's ok to have skill in your bottom 6

He is in a tough spot. He has seemed to be past by now at center with Cousins. You also have more natural wingers in Leier, Aube-Kubel, Lindholm, and others that can play bottom 6 roles.
I think he needs a solid season or he could be moved.
In regards to value maybe a player like Nichushkin or someone else where a team might not see their prospect developing like they want.
I would rather see a move like that than lose him in the expansion draft. |

That's pretty good. Only change I might make is Raffl to the 3rd line LW with Weise on the RW. 4th line of Laughton/Bellemare-Gordon/Bellemare-Read |

Buffalo's 2006-2007 team had 3 scoring lines. You (supposedly) end up with less defensive pieces but who cares if they're 180' away from their own net most of the time. |

Yes, but only if you have a good amount of skill in your top-6. If we can get the offensive equivalent of Malkin and Kunitz on our second line, then you can spread the wealth around a bit. I don't think we have that luxury. |

I would trade Bellemare or try to trade Read before discussing moving Laughton. Nothing against Bellemare, but I like Laughts age and potential still. And after Bellemare's impressive tourney for team Euro he may be easy to move. Just a thought and a preference over trading Laughton. |
