No, he is wishing for Schultz to be injured longer, so a younger player can take his place. I personally want what is good for the team, and a player being injured and out longer is certainly not a good thing for the team, in my opinion. - MJL

But if it forces the hand of our esteemed GM to not overcook a player who looks ready right now (see last season with Ghost). I'm not against it |

So fans are looking at young players playing against non NHL rosters, and declaring them ready. They may or may not be, but I'm not ready to declare them ready based on that, and I doubt that Hextall is either. Gostisbehere was not 19 years old, he was 22.
Since we don't know for a fact that any of the young defenseman are ready for full time NHL duty, and I want the Flyers to get off to a good start, I don't want any of the established NHL defenseman on the roster, injured, for the start of the season. If any of the young players earn a spot on the team, then that's good. Let it play out. |

I'm on the fence with Provorov, Konecny and Morin. They could be NHL guys this year or they may not.
But with people like Schultz really could Morin be so bad that he can't fill in for a bit to see if he really is ready. Maybe the first 3 road games would be a good test. He's older than the other 2 and can it really hurt him to get a taste?
Same with Konecny let him fill in for Schenn's suspension time. Make sure you tell him going in that 3 games is his chance to stick this year or else he's Sarnia bound.
Provorov is a different case to me. He really needs to earn a top 4 spot on our D or back to Brandon. |

Morin had a solid game. Still needs more seasoning in the AHL, but a late-season injury call-up (with sheltered minutes) wouldn't be a disaster.
I respectfully disagree with those who state that Hagg looked strong. To me, he seemed to be on the wrong side of the puck quite a few times and ended up in no-man's-land more than once. |

When I look at how Schultz is used, and what role he plays, that is not a position I'd be excited to place Morin in. I think it's most likely that Morin still needs more AHL time.
I don't know what's going to happen, with Schenn missing the first 3 games, but based on past statements, it seems as though Hextall is not in favor of arrangements such as 9 game tryouts, but you never know. I lean towards players like Konecny having to make the team out right, regardless of the Schenn situation, or going back to juniors. |

That's why he wasn't drafted. |

Schultz is waste of 2mm + in cap space. You can do better and or cheaper for what he brings.
I would much rather see Morin in his spot then him. They need to start infusing some of this youth into the lineup. Cant have all rookies on the backend in a few years. |

I know it's only been really 1 or 2 games, but after last night's impressive performance from TK, which current NHL players on our roster do you think TK is or would be better than when it comes down to finalizing the roster? If you have a list of Read, Vv, Bellemare, Laughts, Cousins, and Konecny, where does Travis rank in your opinion? |

But also by your standards, these are not NHL teams these guys are playing against. So how does one gauge a players likelihood to make the team out outright if we are not seeing them play against NHL competition?
Seriously.
When I watched last nights game, it was obvious to me that Konecny was hands down the best player on the ice. He was everywhere, and everytime he had the puck he was dangerous. There were certainly NHL players out there last night. He stood out above them all. |

I'm thinking that Provorov, Morin and Konecny stick around until the last cuts. They are going to be given every chance to show they are ready. |

I think Morin needs more AHL seasoning. He's improving however slight, but he's not quite ready. I think he needs more work at eliminating players that have the puck on the wall in his zone. I counted too many times where he allowed the player to control the puck where a Schultz or MDZ would have pasted the player to the wall.
Provorov is ready now. I think he has a spot. He undoubtedly makes the team better. They need him on the PK unit the most IMO. Physically he is as mature as a 19 yoa can get.
Konecny is tricky. If it were up to me I'd keep him. There's no question he has puckhandling and speed elements that this team is so desperately lacking. I don't see why you can't put him on a 3rd line and put him on the PP2 unit along that wall. Like someone mentioned before, Robby Fabbri is an excellent player comparison who no question injected skill/speed into that St Louis lineup at 19 yoa. |

I know it was only one game, and it was against the Devils mostly "B" squad, but I want someone to convince me why Konecny shouldnt make our team this year... - jak521
