Stecher won't win the Norris this year, but will be a favourite next year.

How was it at the game last night? Good crowd?

The Leafs are paying Martin $2.5MM for another 4 years. I'll take Dorsett personally. Would I prefer if he made $1.8MM? Sure, but I don't care that he is slightly overpaid as we aren't desperate for cap space or competing for the cup. We had the softest team in the league when he signed and we had to pay a premium. He wasn't going to sign for less than market. Dorset knew he was the only guy with a backbone when he signed and as a result he would take a pounding. True team guy and well respected by our youth.

Oh gawd you've brought up the leafs now they'll be in here.

Yeah not bad. Probably 80% full. Lots of Oilers fans.

We left after the 2nd. Figured we saw 6 goals so that was enough.
I can't believe (yes I can) how bad Lucic looked. What a slow plug he is. Oilers are going to seriously regret that contract.

I read an Edmonton blog on the game and it said the same thing about Lucic. Looked lost and slow.

I was seriously surprised how many Canuck fans wanted him signed here

Also, not only did Lucic have a terrible game, but Maroon left with an injured leg. So much for toughness in the Oilers lineup

I can't understand the Oilers plan to play him with Mcdavid. One of the fastest players in the league with one of slowest Actually, I can understand it. The Oilers are still a disaster

I honestly have no memory of who on here was for and against, I just know that i argued strongly against signing him, and there were some who criticized, saying "we need the toughness"

I am pretty sure everyone was pleased we signed Erikkson over Lucic. Kane was more popular than Lucic on Carol's blog. Kane is at least a strong skater.

That's true about Kane. I wouldn't have minded getting him. Not heartbroken we didn't though.

Yes the Toronto Sports Network is turning me off as well...and it's only going to get worse. Too bad, I like what MacKenzie and Button have to say.

It really doesn't matter who was for or against at this point in time...but thank the lord above we didn't get that neanderthal.

I'd have to be Las Vegas first ref if that was the case...

The comments form oiler fans on some of the articles I've read about the game are hilarious. I didn't know his new nickname was cement boots

There were a few wanting him on a shorter deal but nothing like what the oilers gave him. That franchise continues to shoot itself in the foot.

Sorry bud, I'm not convinced. He had the surgery last summer after the playoffs, max 6 weeks to recover - according to doctors, still giving him 2 full months to prep for the season and I watched him every night and wasn't once impressed by him. He sounds like a dude making excuses for being overpaid and playing mediocre hockey to me.

I'm not convinced either, like I said you see it differently than me. I, for one, am very glad to have a player like Dorsett on the team.

Every team needs a Dorsett. The enforcer role has changed. He can fight (sort of), agitate and contribute offense occasionally. Get over his contract.

I think it just comes down to some people don't like certain players and will find any reason to justify getting rid of them. Everyone does it, and will continue doing so...ala, Sbisa, Burrows...need i say more,

I guess the Nucks have to make the playoffs this year cause it'll be nuts if all the canadian teams miss again. It's tough to see any of them having good odds of making it. Winnipeg is the only team I'd give a chance to except they play in a ridiculous division. Calgary has way long odds but you never know... I suppose Price could singlehandedly get MTL in there yet again but injuries to him or Weber would ruin that team.

Don't get me started on Burrows I'd rather dress Corrado as a 13th forward

I agree, my point exactly, I'd like to see a player "like Dorsett" but not Dorsett and certainly not for 2.6mil.

Do you seriously not see him falling down often (for no reason), over skating/mishandling pucks, not scoring/5% shooting, taking stupid penalties, unnecessarily fighting on a regular basis?

All I'm saying is that his position could be filled by someone else and they could bring a very similar product minus all his deficiencies. Gaunce, Zalewski, Skille, Labate come to mind as cheaper/more skilled replacements. (BTW, this more about efficiency that cap issues)
