Burrows, Dorsett, Sbisa, Biega and Miller need to go. - Scooby_Doo
Burrows, Dorsett and Sbiza would free up nearly 10mil! Biega makes pennies, plus he's AHL bound - Miller is unfortunately a tough piece to get rid of - think he'll have to wait till his contract expires. I don't see anyone taking on his 6Mil now or at the TDL.

What injury are you guys talking about? He missed a few games due to illness mid season and then he had some undisclosed upper body injury in mid march but other than that he played healthy all year.
I agree he shows heart but other than that the guy is F&*king useless. His 2.6mil heart is pretty expensive for a 4th line energy guy. - Brooks_Light
apparently he was playing with a hernia last season. He is far from f*cking useless and like I said earlier, he plays with heart & grit.
Luongo's first game back in Vancouver comes to mind when the entire Canuck team was hugging Luongo and playing soft and he was looking around with WTF lasering out of his eyes. He's also helped Horvat a lot. |

Wouldn't you risk losing them to waivers? - docmorgan
Yes, I think they'd fall through, if they can't make the 3rd worst team's roster, why would they on anyone elses? |

He was healthy? No he wasn't. He was injured all season. Double hernia surgery. |

It's funny, it's like Stetcher has one really good game and everyone forgets that Benning is 100% giving Larsen a chance on the 3rd pairing to start the year, he has said multiple times that he wants him to have 1st PP duties. - NorthNuck
Larsen played against a very poor SJ team full of junior/ECHL/AHL talent and couldn't produce, Stetcher played against EDM's AHL team with their NHL first line intact and scored 3 points... you do the math. And to note, Benning said the same thing last year about Corrado and out of nowhere came Hutton and he was willing to lose Corrado to waivers to keep Hutton in the lineup. Unless Larsen can at least match Stetcher's performance, he's destined for the AHL. |

I keep thinking we need to trade Sbisa to make room for other Dmen, but then I remember he's going to Vegas at the end of the year |

I never heard anything about a hernia injury - I think we saw exactly what Dorsett is capable of last year. I do agree that he brings intangibles to the team by way of locker room, attitude, heart/fight but I feel like he could be replaced by someone with the same skill set (speed, intensity) for half the price.
What I saw (all last year and again last night) is a guy who falls down a lot, over skates pucks, rarely scores, terrible shooting %, takes stupid penalties and was a -13 as a 4th line shutdown guy.
He's basically a guy who can fly down the ice yet accomplish nothing. I think old Lazer eyes might need to chat with Superman in order to figure out how to use them properly.

I know we can never say never with type of thing. But I'm sorry, Stetcher is not Hutton yet, not after 1 good game. Maybe he will continue to play this way all through preseason and force them to keep him, but I think people are on the hype train a little too early on this one. |

He wasn't the same player last season as the one before. Should be pretty obvious that something was wrong. He looked noticeably quicker last night. |

Maybe, but I also think people are listening too much to Benning and ignoring what's in front of them. The team's already said it's going to roll with 8D and the bubble players except for Tryamkin (for contract reasons) are waiver eligible. Really I see it this way, our 8D at this very moment, and if Larsen at least matches Stetcher's production or shows he fits when we play a more NHL-heavy roster can change things is:
Edler - Tanev
Gudbrandson - Hutton
Sbisa - Tryamkin
Stetcher
Pedan
Larsen needs to clearly be much better than Stetcher if he wants to make the team, because I don't think WD or Benning is going to carry 2 smaller PMD defensemen for the 3rd pairing. |

He had the surgery after the Calgary series and he's saying he didn't recover until now? So he was shut down for June, July of 2015 and had 2 months to get ready for the 2016 season yet it hindered him all year? Typical recovery is 4-6 weeks from surgery. If you say so. Injury aside, can you honestly say you're ok with paying him 2.6mil? |

Waivers don't work in Stetchers favour. He can also benefit more from time in the A than pretty much any other from the bottom 4 group.
Edler-Tanev
Hutton-Gudbranson
Tryamkin/Sbisa-Larsen
Pedan, Sbisa/Tryamkin
Larsen I think will probably get a good long look and if it's not working out then that spot will be given to Tryamkin(he can play either side), with Stetcher as a call up option. |

The Leafs are paying Martin $2.5MM for another 4 years. I'll take Dorsett personally. Would I prefer if he made $1.8MM? Sure, but I don't care that he is slightly overpaid as we aren't desperate for cap space or competing for the cup. We had the softest team in the league when he signed and we had to pay a premium. He wasn't going to sign for less than market. Dorset knew he was the only guy with a backbone when he signed and as a result he would take a pounding. True team guy and well respected by our youth. |

3. Dorsett clears hernia hurdle, back up to speed
When the Canucks were eliminated in the first round of the 2015 playoffs by Calgary, it was more than a disheartening result for Derek Dorsett. He wasn’t feeling right and offseason training only worsened his concerned about his core.
“I had double-hernia surgery and was shut down for seven weeks,” said Dorsett. “This summer I was able to train fully and was healthy and I’m ready to go.”
It’s showing. He’s skating on the right side with Markus Granlund in the middle and Emerson Etem at left wing. It’s looking like the opening-night fourth line.
“Everything is feeling really good and I’m able to do my normal rituals,” said Dorsett. “I feel like I’m back skating like I was before the injury and surgery.”

Etem is a plug. I hate how bent over he is when he skates. |
