Yup - he played well last night. Scored didn't he? - docmorgan
He had a better third but I didn't notice him during the first two. |

I liked the speed of Carcone, Labate, Gaunce, Skille - and Stetcher/Hutton jumping into the rush and helping create offense, things we didn't see much of last year. The league is certainly moving in a speed and skill first - type of game. I like the balance on the D of people like Guddy and Hutton, its a perfect mix - the days of the 6.4' 220lbs Dman are over, that's why people like Keith, Klingberg, Krug, Barrie are having success - we're finally starting to see that on our backend.
exciting indeed - Brooks_Light
I liked the play in front of the net . It has been a long time since Canucks had a team play hard in front of the net. |

I thought he had a decent first also. Reliable in his back end generated some chances in the first. |

I didn't watch all the game - did Sutter, Tanev or Brisebois play? they were on the lineup card before the game but I don't remember seeing any of them on the ice? |

Stecher likely makes the opening night roster, Larssen and Biega get sent down and we roll with a bottom pairing of Sbisa - Stetcher with Tryamkin and Pedan rotating in as needed. Larssen hasn't shown anything yet, and Stetcher played big minutes and had 1g2a against a much better Oilers AHL lineup with their NHL 1st line intact.
I do want to see how he does on the PP with Baert/Bo/Rodin or even the Sedins/Erikkson because man, even playing with mostly NHL replacement level talent he put up the points.
I was impressed by the speed of some of our AHL level talent, PTOs and the bubble players like Carcone, Skille, Gaunce and Rodin. They had no trouble keeping up with the Oilers players in the neutral zone and on certain occasions were able to get a step or more on them and drive the net. - DariusKnight
Wouldn't you risk losing them to waivers? |

Stecher needs to ensure he's in Hutton territory as opposed to Corrado territory to make the team. I think he can play in the NHL, but if hes going to be the 6/7/8 then he goes to Utica to be the #1D. If he keeps having a camp like Hutton and says he will be a mix of 4/5/6, then I think he stays. Without needing to clear waivers, I think they let him be a 20+ minute guy in the AHL to start unless the Twins step in again |

Burrows, Dorsett, Sbisa, Biega and Miller need to go. - Scooby_Doo
Agree on the last 3 but Burrows can be our 13th forward and Dorsett has a monopoly on the 4th line RW spot. |

Dorsett is a keeper. He played injured last year and on many nights since he joined the Canucks, he was the only guy to show any heart. Any.
Burrows should see the press box. |

She was actually into it. Not as much as me of course. I told her it was one of the greatest war movies ever and she didn't believe me. Some great scenes. |

Paying someone 4.5m to be your 13th forward makes no sense. I get he's been a great Canuck and this is likely his last year in the NHL. Buying him out makes the most sense. Let someone like Rodin, Carcone or D'aost take his spot. |

I think management has made it clear at this point if they were going to buy him out it would've happened a long time ago. I'm not saying it's necessarily the right thing because someone else could have that spot but he's here now. I'd rather see him be 13th forward, that way he plays some games, is around for leadership, but also makes room for guys who can be regulars on the roster. |

Dorsett is pretty close to an ideal 4th liner, just too bad hes not 3 or 4 inches taller |

It's funny, it's like Stetcher has one really good game and everyone forgets that Benning is 100% giving Larsen a chance on the 3rd pairing to start the year, he has said multiple times that he wants him to have 1st PP duties. |

Dorsett was flying last night. His mobility was severely hindered last year. He isn't going anywhere. |

Things I liked last night.
Not to get ahead of myself seeing it is pre season game number two , but there was some nice stories last night.
The D generating offense was the big story. Not only Stecher but Hutton. Stecher made Edler better and Guddy made Hutton better.
Rodin and Gaunce had nice games.
Our young goaltending looks decent on both nights.
The call up depth looks very good Carcone Labate .
Some PTOs look decent Skille and Rutu from game one.
I think this will be an exciting team this year. It won't be the disaster most outsiders predict. - VANTEL
I think you're forgetting that Sbisa is coming back. |

What injury are you guys talking about? He missed a few games due to illness mid season and then he had some undisclosed upper body injury in mid march but other than that he played healthy all year.
I agree he shows heart but other than that the guy is F&*king useless. His 2.6mil heart is pretty expensive for a 4th line energy guy.
