first he didn't score, second the kid was alright but we calm the (frank) down and see how he will do in a few more games and against full NHL line ups.

(frank) I hate the MTL media.

Yes, and that Mr. Price and Mr. Weber are still healthy (the latter is still too old and slow and will soon be needing a walker, but still healthy).

i wonder what the TV ratings in Canada were for that game last night, especially compared with the gold medal game in Sochi.

He did look good yesterday but yeah... let's calm down.

Besides, playing another year in junior + participating in the memorial cup will be great for him.

Couldn't see the game...heard he did well.

That's good, but for his development, I think it wouldn't hurt him to spend another year in junior, especially with Windsor hosting the Memorial Cup this year.

Last night's pre-season game mustn't be too far behind in ratings.

Not sure he will really improve his defensive game at a level where he will dominate too much. Might even take a few bad habits in his own zone. Ideal level for him would be AHL I think but that's not an option.

we all know how it would go

Game 1: wow this kid is really something. he's gonna be a star
Game 9: kid still looks good but sometimes seems like the speed of the game it a bit much for him.
Game 17: whoa kid was -3 last night in 8 minutes of ice time. maybe he's not as good we thought or they rushed him.
Game 29: 6th straight game as a healthy scratch
Game 41: records first career point, secondary assist on Bryan Flynn's first. whoa look out we got a, uh, Erik Karlsson over here!!
Game 52: dresses as 4th line forward when the IR list hits double digits, plays 19 seconds.
Game 61: sent back to junior. kid is a bust.

why is that? what's the rationale behind it? because it seems like more and more, some of these behemoth 18-19 year olds would really benefit developmentally from playing there as opposed to junior.

It's a deal that was made up so the CHL could keep their "stars" until they are 19. Strictly financial for the Junior clubs.

Let's be honest, Pacioretty being sent down to dominate on a first line the AHL helped him alot.

And he was smart enough to realize this.

i think it's a bit different for a defenceman though. i think as a defenceman, you can grow in a sheltered NHL role. if you're a forward expected to produce, you're not going to evolve playing 7 minutes on a line with Torrey Mitchell and Jacob de la Rose.

Yeah, even on a third pair a D will get 12 to 16 minutes of ice time
