Jerry not Jarry apparently. - Reverend Killtaker
Wow, I just yelled at the TV for the same thing, not that I like you now or anything |

Actually he is infinitely more talented than Cole he just is not allowed to make even the slightest mistake. If Maatta was held to the same standard we would have a terrible defence. Shultz gets a longer leash even. We have see. Pouliot make magic plays just to get benched the next shift. - Dcoms
More talented? Yes. Better defenseman? Nope. Cole was competent in the play-offs. DP has yet to be competent in the NHL, hence his lack of playing time. Stop the excuse making for him. Sullivan had zero faith in him last year. Doesn't sound like he was impressed with the effort last night either. DP has to create his own breaks. Doesn't sound like he is off to a great start. |

What's sad is that announcers and broadcasters are provided rosters with the players names spelled out phonetically. This CSN asshat is just mailing it in with no (frank)s given. |

I know ... was thinking the same thing. It's almost like they didn't even study the roster.
I think Guentzel and Simon could help the big team at some point this year. |

Guentzel has a lot of promise, he just needs to elevate the little things that separate pros from juniors. Such as some scoring approaches that work against juniors or AHL goalies won't be so simple against NHL net minders. He'll get it with experience...no question. Simon I'm curious to see what the offseason did for him. Both him and Jarry hopefully worked on their conditioning in the offseason. I think exhaustion hurt both down the stretch which is understandable. |

I'm sure once Pouliot becomes the player he is destined you will claim you knew it all along just like most of his detractors. |

Jarry has been great so far. No need to sign any waiver wire players if Murray misses extended time. 2017-18 Murray Jarry will be the best goaltending tandem that y at and beyond. And we will get a kings ransom for one and Gustavson(the new/real monster) will adequately replace whomever we lose. Great scouting/ drafting |

I have said I hope he proves me wrong. Right now, he isn't close to proving me wrong. I will have a piece of humble pie if he does make impact. Right now, I don't feel like I have to worry much.
Question for you. If be fails, will you admit he wasn't any good, or continue the built in excuses for his failure like you always do? |

It could be a fun year in WBS. Assuming Jake and Simon start there and Jarry returns after Murray gets back, along with Archibald, Blueger, JS-D, DiPauli, Sundqvist, Gaunce, Prow, the Swedish Dman we signed. Looking forward to coming over and watching a few games. |

Absolutely, it's great to finally have true prospects back in the system while not being heavy on Andrew Ebbets types. Tom Kostopolous is back wearing the C and will continue to be a great mentor. I'm just not sold on our HC. He's got 2 brand new assts this year so we'll see how that goes. |

I feel old. I remember watching Clark D. play against my alma mater when he played in college. Have no clue how good of a coach he will be. He lost a lot of talented dudes last year to the Pens after Sullivan was elevated. |

yeah BB was destined to be a great player too. I will believe it when I see it. Bottom line is that DP has proved nothing to date and the coaches and credible writers aren't even praising him at this point. But keep crossing your fingers! |

Impressed with the kid. Great position all night. Handles the puck well. Good glove. |

Loved the pace of these kids. Beating Chicago to the puck pretty dramatically in the 2nd and 3rd. Jarry was excellent. Prow and Guentzel are real nice prospects. |

So, I am usually one to make knee-jerk reactions and it's a good thing that I'm not the GM. However, I think you give Pouliot at least TWO more years to develop. He just turned 22 FFS. He showed up in the best shape of his life. Defensemen take longer to develop. He has loads of natural physical ability and is a good, fast skater. His development will be based on defensive technique and hockey IQ. I would rather bank on getting better at that than trying to develop a less gifted and lesser / slower skater into an NHLer. I think this is partly why Pouliot was taken 8th overall and Maatta slipped to 22nd.
Speaking of Maatta, yes, he makes his share of mistakes and forget about him being able to recover for his mistakes. However, his technique and hockey IQ are great which is why he was an NHLer from the get-go. But if/when he gets injured again, Pouliot will be his obvious replacement in the lineup. It's not like the Pens have a lot of defensemen knocking at the door from the minors.
In 2 seasons from now when Pouliot is 24/25 years old and he still isn't progressing, then yes, get rid of him. But to cut bait now would be foolish. How many NHL defensemen took until age 24/25 to become NHL-caliber? Besides, he is cheap and will be for his next contract, he fits the system, and Sullivan knows him well.
So, my knee-jerk reaction is that Fleury is done as a starting NHL goalie and we will get nothing for him when he needs to be traded to protect Murray. I think RW's blog illustrates why Dallas is probably not interested, even though they would be the obvious suitor. |

Obviously didn't watch as much as you did but I also get the feeling that the talent outflux hurt Simon a lot last year. At the beginning of the year WBS was pretty stacked and Simon was able to play along side a bunch of NHL/borderline NHL talents. He was able to just be another piece and hone his game while not being leaned on. Then the call ups happened and he lost Wilson, Rust, Sheary, Sundqvist, and Kuhnhackl and all of a sudden he found himself being "the guy" and what's more is he lost Pouliot and Warsofsky on the blue line, stripping the WBS blue line of skill so he didn't have anyone to get the puck up to him either. That's not good for development. |

Pouliot was a tremendous reach at #8 and The Penguins were lucky Maatta was still there at #22 to save face
Mike Johnston (His junior coach) couldn't get him to perform and didn't trust him in the NHL, Sullivan knows him well (And can't stand him), and Pouliot is not a guy who "Fit's the system" because he sucks when he plays in it
If he was any good, he'd be playing
#Bust
I just hope he shows enough that Vegas takes a flyer on him so we don't lose one of our young forwards |

Just had a quick squiz at the Rags game stats from yesterday, Dinger looks like he had an ok game. I've said it before, & I'll say it again, Dinger will be a good solid player this year. Just think, we had him for zero & gave him away for the same & in the meantime gave him no chance to succeed. |
