sort of stinks but doesnt stink enough to be out of the league

he was practicing with the some Av players at U of Denver before training camp started, so at least he has been skating. Wasnt the most impressive guy at the informal skates but im sure he will be fine for 3rd pairing

You know you're lineup is chock full of prospects when JJ is the crusty old veteran of the group.

Konecny is real good for the Flyers. Blandisi is really noticeable too. He's been playing well

Wood has caught my attention a few times. 44. He can motor. I want to see more from Gignac.

I haven't seen Gignac much you're right. Speers will be a very solid player one day. I'm seeing a lot of good things from him.

I started watching NJ in 83, so i lived through the entire Brodeur era and i must say, this style that Hynes is preaching and the speed that we have throughout our core team and prospect pool is something i havent seen in over 25 years. We're just a fast organization. Very excited for this new regime and new direction.

Oh there was Gignac flying down the wing. I don't think he was really expecting to make it all the way to the net.

16 pending RFAs at seasons end, currently at 48 contracts, Savards 4 mil hit coming off at the end of the year, Fiddler and Quincey as the only expiring one way UFA deals, barely at cap floor before a Severson extension. I'd expect Shero to be very active in the trade market with teams that are pressed against the cap. Hopefully can snag an expensive play making defenseman that a team can no longer afford.

I just love the new mentality in late July. Instead of drafting "character" players and attempting to identify every potential JOhn Madden styled player, I like that we're going with balls to the wall speed. Mcleod being a prime example. Defensive shells no longer work. The Pens won the cup last season with blinding speed and a tenacious forecheck. They had a rookie goalie and nothing special on the back end. Speed kills in the new NHL. I like our direction.

While I do like the new identity, people did criticize McLeod as a safe pick who might just be a good, defensive 3rd line center which was basically John Madden. I think he has a higher ceiling than that and like him better than Brown.

I wanted Brown there, particularly after the jump in scoring Brown had in the 2nd half of his season last year. Wasn't as disappointed with that as when we passed on Provorov though.

Surely Quincey helps. Moore has been a cast off of numerous NHL clubs already in his young career. Columbus, NYR & Arz. NJ signed as a UFA. Merrill was a train wreck last season & Auvita has a whopping 0 games of NHL experience. I had serious concerns about NJ's D & this helps. It's still pretty ugly but Quincey did play as a top 4 Dman in Detroit last season playing 1 second less TOI/GP than Green but logging the 2nd most ES TOI. He also took 2nd unit penalty killing minutes. He should play in the #4 or 5 slot in NJ.

At a mil for 1 year who cares that's good value for what he should provide. Better than trying to force Santini into a role he may not yet be ready for. Youth & D in the NHL don't go well together. Better to expose these young Dman slowly in sheltered roles. Quincey helps buy some time.

If Konecny is 1/1000th as good as Clement has been painting him, i wouldn't trade the guy for McDavid, Crosby or, Toews.

Quennville hasn't impressed at all thus far.
