Look its one of the knocks on Snow........bad asset management. My guess is that the isles didnt make Frans an offer because they were targeting someone else. When that someone else was off the table, Snow probably came back to ole faithful. Still business is business, and he took less money to go on a Babcock and Datsyukless Wings. Makes you wonder...

You do however bring up a really good point, which is, if you're gonna make a serious offer, why wait until the last minute?

From what I remember it was a bit more money but over a extra year so less per year. He would have had to play longer and earn less per season. In any case, it's done.

Ah ok well that makes sense.......it is done. The bottom line is this team with KO, Nielson and Martin couldnt get past a Stamkos less Lightning. It was time for a shake up anyway.

Total random side note : But Austin Mathews is pretty incredible. I watched him play for N America, and he's sickk

If you think about it, this league is pretty fortunate, each year seems to bring really talented players from the draft. Hasn't been too many weak ones in a while.

Its a funny thing........cause in truth, Bailey is super talented. I dont know why he is so passionless......but if had any fire in his belly, he'd be such a good hockey player. He's got tremendous hands......its just amazing that he is always pass first.

They are good players but are either a step above bailey? We all hate josh and hes fustrating to watch but some of the guys drafted around him arent much better in that draft. This isnt barzal at 16 although he was slated as a top 5 before a knee injury and i think hes going to be a steal at 16 and the best player up front not wearing 91

Barzal is special, but the NHL is a different game than juniors.......he's gonna be playing against much bigger and faster guys. Im not saying he wont be able to play at that level, but its a lot different getting smashed by Chara, than some 16 year old who just bought his first razor.

I hear what you're saying about Bailey and its very easy to play monday morning quarterback. Snow did the right move by trading back, and taking Josh. I just think in hockey just like in life, sometimes you gotta cut your losses. How many years did we watch guys like Kvasha, Satan, or Yashin underachieve???? To me, if a guy isnt bringing it on the scoreboard.......he's gotta play a hard hat game. Josh is just a soft player......i hate that. Also, its pretty crazy to me that he's been considered basically every type of player in his tenure here......from top 6, to bottom 6, to defensive forward, to PP and top line. Like which is it already?? Whats his role?

Yeah and the fact that he's continued to be there seems pretty indicative of how they view him too.

#Isles waive Ben Holmstrom and Bracken Kearns, send Loic Leduc, Carter Verhaeghe and Kyle Schempp to BPT and release Josh Winquist from PTO.

Snow in the ended offered Martin EXACLTY what he got from Toronto. His Agent convinced him he would get much more on open mkt from Rangers, Tampa, etc. by the time he got back to the Isles they had moved on to Chimera.

He was not going to give Okposo that kind of money .. gave it to Ladd instead and I think we all agree Ladd is an upgrade if healthy.

Franz turned him down for same money. I think that had a lot to do with him wanting to try something else... and truthfully Cap.

For what Franz got and how he played last year I am ok with him moving on. He was getting worse every year as the "shut down" guy. He got an awful lot of money.
