A couple things to catch up:
I would trade the 1st for Trouba...not much more and definitely not Nylander at all. The Leafs could only hope to get a D man as good in the draft but would have to wait 3 years for development time.
That being said our D line up would look a hell of a lot better like this:
Rielly, Trouba
Gardiner, Zaitsev
Marincin, Carrick
Hunwick, Polak
And last, good blog Lucas. Didn't hear Babcock talk about Martin and Bozak makes me rethink my line up:
JVR, Kadri, Brown
Komarov, Matthews, Nylander
Martin, Bozak, Marner
Michalek, Laich, Holland
....when we lose Michalek at the TDD bring in Sosh or Hyman.
Those forwards with that D...

My only problem with the forward lines is I feel Marner is getting set up to fail pretty good with Bozak and Martin

Not for the price, it will be one of those bad contracts after a couple of years. - LeafMan
I think you underestimate Burns a little.
He's a solid player and doesn't take that many risks/is reliable enough in his own zone considering what he brings you offensively (which is basically the production of another forward).
Then again, I don't see him play as much as other players so you could very well be right... I'm mostly basing this on what I've seen last playoffs and in the World Cup. |

Depends on what data you value. Obviously he's not perfect, but the fact that the puck ends up out of our zone and down in the other more than it does with anybody else on the ice shows that he's doing something right. - lumlums
I look beyond just the stats, like the blatant giveways, bonehead passes, bad positioning, terrible pinches, things that are not measured by subjective stats. |

I was right about Phaneuf and I will be proven right about Gardiner, IMO. I will hold off thinking Matthews is the next Kopitarsakic until we get a bigger sample size. - LeafMan
You know some around here have claimed that if Matthews turns into Kopitar they will be disappointed? |

It's what I'm saying, do not overhype the guy, wait and see. I will be cautiously optimistic ™.

Stats are not subjective, they are accurate depictions of events that can be measured. Interpretations can be wrong, or incomplete, but the stats are what they are.
And even if those pinches/passes/bad positioning that you describe lead to events that directly harm the Leafs (i.e. shots/goals against), his results are still overwhelmingly positive. |

That's why his team mates stand in front of the net.. So, they won't get hit by a letter high clapper. |

He's a huge liability against good players, he's lost defensively, he's a player, in my opinion, that stats don't tell the complete story, it's actually a falsehood. |

I think he means the interpretation of stats is what's subjective.
Eg. Team A had a much higher shot attempt differential than Team B. Therefore Team A played a better game, or even Team A possessed the puck more than Team B. |
